Rough season over here.

Fished in the UP last weekend in the 20 below howling windstorm. Pretty much got the bagel.

Went up to Lake of the Woods this weekend to fish with some friends from up there and had a tough bite. Had a couple big walleyes get off at the hole. Dad caught a 10.5 pound eelpout. Gonna eat him tonight.

I'll know in a few hours. I've never caught one big enough to eat.

One guy throws them one the ice for the birds, next guy swears its the closest thing to lobster.

My fav eating freshwater fish, flash boiled in buttered and seasoned water and dipped in garlic butter. Same exact texture and flavor of lobster. Haven't caught one in three years :x

Well after eating it I can say that the comparison to lobster isn't out of line.

Just boiled in Sprite and doused in butter. Next time (probably another 24 years from now) I think I'm going to try water/old bay and see how that works.

Pike, walleye, whitefish, lake trout, and salmon I believe.

I wouldn't mind putting the tines to some walleye. From what I have been hearing the spearing has been tough. Wonder if it has anything to do with all the pike I'm catching coming from 25-30 feet of water?

I just don't think I could stand cleaning one of those nasty bastards. There are fish around here called oyster toads that people swear are good. I'll never know, because I'm not fucking with them. I caught one two years ago that best the citation size by at least 4 inches and 2 pounds. Guess where that fucker went? Right back to the bottom with a hook in his lip, trailing a foot of monofilament.

Looks similar to what people call a mother in law fish here.

Damnit Beel, I know what Sprite is. I was more referring to the actual idea of boiling something in Sprite or "pop", never heard of that being done before (and wondering if I am missing out on something fantastic).

I just starting combing the internet for recipes and boiling it in sprite or 7up or 50/50 came up a lot so I did it. I'd never heard of it before either and its not something I would do with crappie or pike.
