Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

Had a guy hunting upwind of us last day of the season. Lots of mergs flying around. We were passing on them, but apparently he wasn't because we has 3 or 4 come floating through our spread.

Fished Canyon Ferry today, 5 people 30 poles and not one fish. Got 12 really good hits but nobody could convert, also one straightened hook and two broken lines didnt help. Pretty slow bite overall.

I was planning on getting after it hard this weekend since Ft. Peck is solid however the weather report has steadily gotten shittier. I might try to make it out on a river tomorrow morning if this wind dies down some, but the high for Sunday is forecast to be -17.

On the plus side, if it warms up by next weekend we shouldn't have to worry about the ice around here until May.

It was single digits most of the morning and blowing pretty good. Had to chop a small hole to put the spud in and tie off to so the shanty wouldn't blow away. Still had to stay sitting down so it wouldn't blow around too much. We kept 4 and let a pile of little ones go. The guys closest to us said they had 50 but they didn't say how big  The kids had fun anyway.

I don't understand people like that. Do you really need to keep 50 perch just so you can say you did it? How many of those do you think actually make it to the frying pan?

At least the kids had fun!

Well Wild Bill, I caught one that maxed out the scale today. The 15 pound scale read right around 17.75 before it errored out. 41 inches long. I'll post a shitty picture later. Also caught another one that went 10.5 pounds. ;)
