That the muzzy set up? Have actually heard good of those. I tried the 808 started out and broke off about every damn arrow and busted the reel.

Yup. I forgot to push the button 3 times today trying to get used to it from the AMS. Never broke the string or the reel. Just renocked the arrow and pushed the button and shot again. I'm very impressed and I think I'll be switching over from AMS.

 whatever works. It was the dogs that always broke on the 808's. Luckily I worked at Sportsmans at the time and just swapped them out.

I still got the AMS hooked up on backup bows. Will see how I like the spinner once I get into a few more fish.

First trip in the boat wasn't bad. Wind was supposed to be SE 12mph. Ended up being NE 20mph so we couldn't get on the bay. River was muddy but we still managed 12 in about 2 hours of shooting. Got 2 hogs with one at 34" 22#.

And nothing broke, all the lights lot up, and we didn't sink. And I don't forget anything important. So I'd consider it a success.

For someone who wants to get into it, what kind of water do you look for to shoot them bustards

Around here it's pretty much everywhere. Depends on the time of year to where they are at more. Right now they are hanging in the 2-3' range on the edge if drop offs. Later in the year when water temps get to 55-65 they will hit the shallow flats and weed beds and do their thing. Then post-spawn it gets tricky. Some times they are deep and sometimes they are shallow. I think it's something weather related, but haven't put two and two together yet to figure it out. Best bet is to find a place that is muckier than you think it should be. Carp stir the shit out if the bottom everywhere they go so if there is dirty water, there is probably carp.

Mostly carp and gar here too. Gar don't show up till mid June though. They like the warm water.

I'm sick of trying to save up for am ams setup. I'm about to go bolt a coffee can to the end if my bow and wrap a string around it. Fleet farm has arrows for $5 right now

That's how I started. Also, a lot of guys use the TI20 spin cast reels. I think they are $20ish, but you need a reel seat and a rod which will run you another $25. Still half the price if the AMS though.

I have a friend that won't even think of switching to an AMS from the TI20. So I guess it's just personal preference, although I think Id probably forget to click the release and break a few lines before I got use to it.

Most of the big time tournament guys use spin cast reels. They are just faster. I bought a muzzy this year and I like it so far. If you forget to push the button your arrow just falls off when you draw. Unless you have a ton of slack line out. I like it a lot better so far.
