You shoot so many every day. Have there been studies done? Are bow fishermen making an impact? Or do they breed faster than they get hunted?

No studies that I know of, but sure it has an impact. Not a big one, but still present. The record for the previous tournament I was in was 1/4 million pounds of rough fish in 2 days.
Look at the bottom 2 in the right corner of my picture. Their eggs are not much bigger than a grain of sand. Most likely they each have well over 1,000,000 eggs in them. Average female will have close to 1/2mil eggs. Hard to control a reproductive system like that.

Seems like best time to kill is right before they spawn

Yup. Instead of killing 1 you're killing 1million.
But they are just as fun to kill with or without eggs.

Looks like the Ritz family put the spanking on everyone.
Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the rule of honor.

This is how the lights do on the boat with just a battery. The camera doesn't quite catch all the picture either

Friend stuck 3 that trip, but two fell off right at the boat. I need different tips. The ones I have the barbs don't move so they are pretty much in line with the hole they just made so pull out to easy apparently. And I never sharpened my tip after the least outing and my buddy said he watched my arrow bounce off at least two fish. It had a pretty bad burr on it.

Lessons learned as a noob

For what it's worth, I never sharpen a tip and I've never seen them bounce off of anything but gar.
Use the muzzy carp tips and bend the barbs so they are right to the shaft. Hold fish like no other.

I sure try. Still no spawning action though. Hopefully next week something will get started and find some rolling fish.

Skip to 33:40. This is a normal spot during the spawn. Nothing spectacular by any means.

Put this together real quick just to try and figure out gopro's software.
Slow day because of the mud and wind but we got a couple. Hopefully will have some better action put together in a week or 2.

Those look easier to hit when they are at the surface

Looks like your shooting is as unpredictable as the weather over there.

That thing was like seven feet away.

There is serious reality television potential there, but you guys are going to have to act dumber than that.

My buddy wearing waders with no shirt bear hugging a carp to get it in the boat after he missed at 2' did have some entertainment value.
If my camera didn't fuck up after those clips I woulda had some good video. We found a spot where they were really shallow and we got tired of shooting them with bows so we good the arrows off the string and chased em around stabbing them.
