Only if you want to float every fish in that body of water with one shot.

I would. I figured Bowmags were that powerful.

My buddy ended up sticking two bowfin tho at least (I missed on them). Turned the lights on around 830, and the lights and trolling motor kept going strong till we left after 2

That's impressive with the battery life.
How well did the light bars light it up?

Like a moron I didn't take a picture. In the clear water it did ok. Not a huge visual area, but lit up about as far as I'd want to shoot. In green water, it was kinda tough. Could still make out fish, but distinguishing species became difficult. Thankfully dog fish have that goofy fin that goes all around

It's gonna be like that with any light unless you go big. Like the 400w hps.
With mine I can see pretty good for about 20 feet out from the boat. Muddy water is tough, but that's where the orange light from HPS vs the blue light from LEDs help. The orange light makes the carp actually glow a little bit. And most of the places I shoot all there really is are carp so it makes it easier.

I was really cool seeing all the fish though. They didn't know what to do about the light. The pike would bolt about to the edge of the light and it was like there was a fence there. They'd stop and turn back to see where they were going.

Yeah. Everything acts way different at night. See some pretty cool shit sometimes too.

Did a little day shooting this afternoon. Found some in super shallow and had a blast. Filled a barrel then ran around trying to stab them and catch them with our hands.
Gopro footage to come hopefully.

Do you have it attached to the bow?

I used the head mount. Turned out good for the little bit that worked. I guess that's what I get for buying a cheap card. I'll have to drop some money on a good one so it doesn't give out reading errors.

THat's a good question. I wonder if the pressure from it hitting the water would set it off...

Did you bowfish during the day before, or are you just getting into it?

How many gar did you miss then before you hit the rust one?!? Haha.
I shot at over 100 before I hit my first gar. But in my defense they were all 2-3' under water.

Few pics from the tournament.
Everybody waiting for their number to get called.

One of the many airboats that were running around out there.
Most guys I talked to said their boat was lighter at the end of the day than when they started. Meaning they burnt more weight in gas than they shot in fish.

Put a first timer on some fish tonight. I didn't shoot much but 3 of us shot 45 in 2 hours. This was his biggest fish of the night.

First gar I ever shot at. It was complete luck, which I know, but still cool to get.

Here is the best I could do for a movie:

Nice.

I was pissed when I went that whole afternoon with my gopro running and all the videos had an error opening up. Woulda been a great video with the mess of carp we killed.

Took my brother and cousin out this afternoon. I didn't shoot much but we got 29. Got some good gopro video too that I'm hoping I'll have edited next week.

Heading out for the 24 hour tournament. Weather is perfect and a lot of carp should die this weekend.

Sitting at the weigh in. Not as many carp as I thought there would be. I think we will be around the 200 mark for the day.

Lets rewind. Carp hunting is for population control of an invasive species right?
You shoot so many every day. Have there been studies done? Are bow fishermen making an impact? Or do they breed faster than they get hunted?

I wish I woulda taken a picture if the dumpster. 30 yard filled till they started falling out, then 2 more pickup trucks. And it was a slow weekend for carp. Was a ton of fun but all night standing on the front of a boat has me ready to sleep for 12 hours.

No studies that I know of, but sure it has an impact. Not a big one, but still present. The record for the previous tournament I was in was 1/4 million pounds of rough fish in 2 days.
Look at the bottom 2 in the right corner of my picture. Their eggs are not much bigger than a grain of sand. Most likely they each have well over 1,000,000 eggs in them. Average female will have close to 1/2mil eggs. Hard to control a reproductive system like that.
