Hunters: William, Matthew and I with Abby

Temp: 48 degrees, Wind East :x at 10 mph

Damn east wind, much less ducks moving around. Any Greys that came in sight stayed out of gunning range. As usual when we were getting out of the blind a flight of 20 teal came in and sat in the decoys. For some reason Abby was being a dog today, 2 ducks dead in the water and she would not follow my directions - we picked them up after the hunt.

Totals: 7 - Green wing teal, 1 - Spoonbill, 2 - Bufflehead (we don't get many of these in our marsh)

Hunters: Buddy and I

Going to the camp after Thanksgiving I hit a deer about 2 miles from Buddy's house, kinda messed up the front of my vehicle, but it was still driveable.

Hunters: Buddy and I with Abby

Temp: 58 degrees, NE wind 5 - 8 mph

Did not see a lot of ducks moving around, but we saw came. There was not a lot of shooting in the area, so we were lucky to have some ducks come in. Abby had a much better day retrieving than Wednesday

Totals: 2 - Greenwing Teal, 3 - Gadwall, 1-Pintail, 1 - Mallard, 1-Mottled, 3 - Wigeon, 1 - Redhead

Other than the Wigeon all the other ducks came in as singles

Hunters: Buddy and I with Abby

Temp: 60 degrees, wind Zero, none and FOG

We got to the blind a few minutes late due to the fog, and we heard shooting everywhere. We got set up and all the shooting stopped. We actually could hear duck wings but could not see them. When the ducks did come into sight you best be ready because they were not visible for long. Abby made a great retrieve on a wounded teal - it kept diving on her every time she got close. Finally she had had enough and completely dove underwater to get the duck.

Totals: 10 - Green wing teal, 2 - Gadwall

The teal were everywhere. We shot 6 teal early then held off for a while and the Greys started moving. We were finished by 7:15

Totals: 6 - Green wing teal, 6 - Gadwall

Nice hunts! And you mean to tell us there was a GROUP of wigeon that worked in? Can't tell you when the last time was I worked a group of wigeon, think something like 2005.

We have been very lucky to have the ducks we have. Most areas around us are reporting very few ducks. I hope we get a new influx of ducks this week to help those who don't have and to add to our duck numbers.

Going to the camp tonight - we are forecast to get south to west winds most of the weekend - usually good wind for us.
Good luck to all this weekend.

Hunters: Buddy and I with Abby

Temp: Warm 70 degrees Wind light from the SE

From the get go teal were everywhere. We got ate up by more than a flock or two. Mosquitoes were terrible - yard guard and OFF were the only things keeping us in the blind. We had 4 blinds hunting today and 3 of the 4 four blinds limited out with only teal. The Grey ducks were definitely flaring off the robos.

Totals - 9 Green wing Teal, 2 - Gadwall, 1 - Pintail.

Saturday, Dec 1, 2018

Hunters: Buddy and I with Abby

Temp: 74 degrees, Wind WSW 10 mph. Rain ended before we left the camp, on the boat ride to the blind the fog rolled in. Even with that much wind the fog stayed with us until after 9:00.

Where did the teal go - saw only a couple flights of teal all morning. With the limited number of ducks we were seeing we did not let anything pass without taking a shot. At 9:00 when the fog lifted we had 6 Scaup and 1 Grey. The Greys started moving then and things got a little better.

Totals: 6 - Scaup, 6 - Gadwall

Sunday, Dec 2, 2018

Hunters: Buddy and I with Abby

Temp: 57 degrees, wind 0 to 5 from the west. Mosquitoes again

We have 3 blinds on another lease west of us, and with the west wind that is the direction our ducks were coming from. Those 3 blinds had a very good hunt. Every now and then a duck or two would sneak through and give us a chance. When those blinds left at about 8:30 things got better for us. And the teal were back.

Totals: 6 - Green wing Teal, 5 - Gadwall, 1 - Pintail.

A friend of mine was traveling west on Hwy 190 between Krotz Springs and Port Barre, he said he was seeing large V after large V of geese headed south.

Saturday, Dec 15, 2018 - Opening day 2nd Split

Hunters: Buddy and I with Abby

Temp: 50 degrees, wind NW 15+ mph - In the words of Clark Griswald "It was Nipplely"

Had the usual early morning teal that stayed just outside the decoys, the one flight that did come in close we did not see in time. The Grey ducks were all piling into some small ponds to our West and there was no way of changing their minds.

Total: 2 - Green wing teal, 2 - Spoonbill, 7 - Gadwall

Sunday, Dec 16, 2018

Hunters: Buddy and I with Abby

Temp: 43 degrees, with Zero wind - total opposite of yesterday

It was dead calm for the first 1 1/2 hours, then got a light NW wind but it did not help much. Only saw a few Grey ducks, don't know what happened to all the ones we saw the day before. Had a good many teal around the marsh, but they did not want to play with us.

Total: 4 - Greenwing teal

Hunters: Buddy, and I with Abby

Temp: 48 degrees with a 12 - 15 mph NW wind

The blind we pulled this morning is not set up for a west wind, but it is our smallest pond and usually good on windy days. We had a couple of flights of early teal that ate us up. It was after 7:30 before we had our first duck down. This was the first day we did not put out a Mojo. Nothing flared away that came in, but I think the Mojo may have directed a few more ducks our way. Abby earned her keep today with most of our ducks falling into the thick grass behind the blind.

Totals: 1 - Greenwing teal, 2 - Pintail, 8 - Gadwall

Hunters: Keith and I with Abby

Temp: 52 degrees, wind 5 mph from the SE

Pretty good teal activity early, then slowed down to almost nothing flying. For the first hour it sounded like a war zone in our marsh with all the teal on the move. Again we did not put out a Mojo.

Hunters: Keith, Joey and I with Abby

Temp: 60 degrees, mostly cloudy, wind SE moving to W at 5 mph

It was our turn for the teal - we were limited out in 20 minutes. When Abby was picking up ducks in the pond the teal would bank around the blind and come in the other side. It was one of those days you could not keep your gun loaded. We put out 1 Mojo this morning and the teal liked it.

Total: 2 - Pintail, 1 - Gadwall, 2 - Bluewing teal, 13 - Greenwing teal

It was a good day, we had plenty of teal moving early. The Grey ducks did not want to play much today, they would give us a look then move on. We had out 2 Mojo's and the Grey ducks stayed away from them, the Teal did not care.
