Hey JGUN how's the decoy coming along?

Set the eyes last week and gave the entire decoy a coat of epoxy. Put a primer coat of paint on the other day. Probably work on detailed paintings next week. Too much fishing to do this week. :grin:

I hadn't seen this thread, damn JJ, your getting it.

I hate saying anything nice about a prick like jgun, but, the man knows how to carve a block. Here is one he let us "borrow as a reference", probably shouldn't be reminding him I've got it, have grown attached

I can't wait to see the finished project, may have to sneak over before he gets a pix up

I doubt this. You take your time with things and obviously have some mechanical abilities to work tools, etc.

Has anyone seen a mandarin while hunting? I could care less that this decoy is one, just curious is all. I believe most ducks don't really care what decoys you have out there as long as you have the one they are looking for.

We see them all the time up on lake superior when we're hunting divers.
Most people don't know it but they steal food from the divers when they come up from feeding. They make a really goofy sound. I can sell you a call if you want one.

Is it gadwalls or widgeon that do that too? They hang out with the canvasbacks because the cans tear up the grass and when it floats up the other ducks eat it.
