I know what you mean, I can put a massive spread when texas rigged in a fraction of the time it takes to put out half the amount of regular rigged dekes. Picking up is also a breeze with it.

I use 400# mono. Bunch them up anywhere from 12-24 dekes and tie the mono lines together with an overhand knot. I've had em this way for years and no tangle problems.

I also use the 400# mono. I have used the overhand knot as well. Ive found that it takes time to untie the knot in the field, especially if you use less than 4 ft of line. Secondly, over time the mono retains a curved shape. I try to keep the lines as straight as possible as much as I can.

The only time I noticed the mono getting memory in it was when I would store them after the season still tied up. After the first season of using texas rigs, I quit storing them that way and haven't come across the problem since. However, I hunt 5-7 days a week during season so mine never really have a chance to build the memory.

Texas rigs are the way to go. I can put out six dozen myself, hunt, and pick em up quick.

You can always put out a ridiculously huge spread and make the x.

I love my Texas rigs. I only hunt about a dozen, tops, and usually less than that, but it sure is nice setting and picking up. I never thought to just heave the whole bunch though, but I'm gonna try it this season.

I throw mine out in groups of 6. They go further and spread out better.

I do similar to 6bands and just toss out the whole bunch. Grab the lines about 2/3 the way down from the decoy and swing toss it out from the side. You'll get good distance and more seperation when trhowing them.

That's a lot cheaper than anything I've found. I need 6oz weights for mine and I haven't been able to find them much cheaper than $1 each.

I was shocked at the price and ended going with 6, 8 and 10 oz. The 8 is where it's at for me, not to heavy and still has good hold. I've had several of 6oz move on me in high winds.

How bad is the shipping? Did you get egg sinkers?

I want to say the shipping was reasonable. I bought enough to do 30 doz dekes and I think the shipping was under $50.

I only have about 5 or 6 doz to do, so that shouldn't run me up too bad.

Probably around 15 for shipping at the most.

Sweet. I really wanted to get mine all rigged up, but I kept putting it off because the cheapest I could get the shit for was close to $3/decoy...and that's more than I paid for the decoy itself.

Buy the mold and pour them yourself. Usps will steal your egg sinker and replace them w/ 3 golf balls.

Got any metal scrap yards around you? I was selling a trailer load of scrap steel the other day and the place I go had 2 UDS's almost full of lead. Think it was .50/# or so.

Same here. But I've found on open water, or if the tide's running, I need 16oz on my goose floaters. Gets tiresome chasing those bitches around the bay.

Im surprised you guys get tangles. I run the 400# mono and egg weights on my 12doz and I put them straight into the bag. Never had a tangle. I found that.when you make the loop and run the mono through the crimp they work best if you don't push the tag end out of the end of the crimp.
