USiA Waders

Postby 3legged_lab » Tue Apr 01, 2014 12:05 am

After about 6 weeks from the order date my new waders showed up today and I am very pleased with the quality. The ladies I dealt with on the phone at USiA were very helpful and knowledgeable about their product. Like others, I wanted to go overboard on the options but my wallet kept me in check. I ended up going with the shell loops and talked with them about wanting a pocket that was open on the sides just so I'd have a place to keep my hands. The lady said they dont have it listed on the website but they do offer a fleece lined hand warmer pocket and its huge. My arm fits all the way up to my elbows.
In total they were delivered to my door for $264. I usually only get two seasons out of a pair of neoprenes, so if I get past season 3 I'll call it a win.

Yup. The non-insulated part has a little worried, but it'll be awesome early season.

Can you get insulated boots from them. Like at least 1200s?

They'll glue a pair of bogs on the bottom but its an 85 dollar option I couldn't justify.

Little pricy, but I might give them a call and see what they have to say. the only thing that keeps me with neoprene waders is there are no non-neoprene waders with warm boots. My feet get cold easy and it gets cold up here during the season.

You must be agreeing with the second sentence and not the third, right?

Hey red, didn't you say they can use other boots too if they have the appropriate upper? Or was it mike?

It's better to just get half size bigger on the boots and wear two pairs of heavy socks.
I doubt anyone here hunts colder weather than I do in Wyoming. The waders have enough room for as much insulting layers as you like. My boots were non standard and they charged me an extra $10 but, they were some sort of proto that they already had in the shop when I was there talking to Kim.
If you do cut them or get some type of leak, they fix them and, you can change the boots on them if you want something else later.

4 pair of good socks in rubber boots wouldn't cut it for me in 15* weather.

I don't know what to say then. I guess I'm just used to the cold. I hunt down to -20. 2 pairs of wicknwet socks works fine for me.
I haven't personally tried to find any insulated boots to add to mine. If you have a specific boot in mind, just call their shop and ask Kim, the owner. He'll tell you if they can use the boot you choose. Generally, the boot has to be able to be cut down and, be able to be vulcanized to the waders. I would think there are pac boots that would work but, that's going to add to the final total price considerably.

Forget about it mike, he's just not man enough for a pair of these waders.

Probably not. I'll just stick with neoprenes. First people to come out with reasonably priced breathables with 1600 boots will get my money.

Just my feet. I had 1200s and wore 2 pair of thermal socks and would still get cold in anything below 30*
I wear ice kings for ice fishing any I still have to thaw my feet out when I get home.

You'll be buying electric socks and hand warmers for your boots.
Either that or you'll say fuck it and quit.
Third possibility...one day you'll NOT use 4x4 and, you know.
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.
