Bought one of them little 2-cycle generators for camp. It's great for little stuff like running a battery charger on the boat or some lights in camp but when I ask it to make drip coffee it's not enough to cut the mustard. It worked for a year and now it's starting to get about halfway done with a pot and the engine stops. It just isn't made to run ful blast for 20 minutes like that trying to run a 1000 watt device. It's a 900 watt generator.

So I'm thinking either get a bigger generator or a big inverter for the truck to make my coffee. That way the heater in the truck is warmed up by the time I'm rolling to the boat launch. Seems like a good idea to me anyway.

Why not? What would you get?
I'm hoping to get an el-cheepo and wear it out like I stole it so NOT the $943 one please.
Lets find one that's 1500 watts and around $100. It's a challenge. Ready?

Go.

A smaller coffee maker.

1000W at 12V is over 80 amps. So you'll need at least 2/0 cable.

20' of 2/0 welding cable so you can mount the inverter to the back of the truck.

So you're $160 into the inverter project just to brew some coffee.

12 volt drip coffee pot. Plug right into power outlet on truck. Bought one at Wally World a few years ago. We use it daily in our blind.

Went and got one of the Coleman ones. $31.16 was in my price range. Already have all sorts of coleman gearood. so figured what the heck.

Got it home and found real quick that it fits right onto my mister heater. This:

Works good. Makes super hot coffee too. (tested it out)
The one thing I notice is that it is sort of slow. Will take me 20+ minutes to brew a full pot and fill two thermos.

Weird how it went from inverter to propane power. (sorry)
This has came up before in other forums.
Propane is more portable imo.

Ended up doing this. Needed a new stove anyway. It works great but you gotta let it brew slowly or it burns the coffee. Low heat.

You need a truck camper for what you do. Or a Class B camper.
