Spoke with Dave as he was riding high off this outing, sounded like a great time and hopefully fueled his fire to keep him revved up for the season to come this fall. Hope to join one of these events in the future

That's the kind of stuff I'd think myself in my twenties has, or would have done. Before heading out this weekend one of my concerns was not being in the shape needed to do this work. I don't have the wind right now and I'm overweight which makes walking in the marsh, much less trying to rush to a net a bit of a chore. Back 35 years ago walking a flotant marsh with a semi-hard bottom 11/2 to 2 feet below kept me in shape, nor was I sitting in an office everyday.
When we rushed up to the net location on Saturday after it was fired I saw the net out in the middle of the marsh pond. I thought to myself, well, here we go, AirMed will be on the way soon. Actually that marsh had a descent bottom, but it still winded me.

You caught the right shot to start on. Thought I was gonna croak during last March's effort, where we had no choice but to drag the loaded bird crate sleds way the hey too far overland as a cold front howled in and sleeted on us. Turned out a good thing that put me back in the habit of doing a little set of exercises to combat advancing age. Had I not, shots like the one he told of in that Instagram account might have spawned "the big one". Not that that would be such a terrible way to go, just not yet...

Paul reminds me of a young deer hunter who'll shoot a big buck at the bottom of a deep hollow before thinking about how he'll get it out. Whereas, we older ones are more inclined to do our shooting uphill from the truck.

I will be starting some cardio exercises again and some stretching. I was doing this for good while in the past but had to stop due to rotator cuff issues. I thought for sure surgery on both was in my near future, but the Dr. sent me to therapy for a few months and I just took it easy and let things heal, which took forever. I still feel those when I forget and they sure do remind me really quick when I'm screwing up.

Would think those rotator cuffs would hold your crabbing to a recreational level, too.

I started slowly with that with a few test throws and it's been all good so far. I do feel it though and have to take it easy. When running the go devil and I hit something in the water that jars my shoulder a sharp pain shoots down my arm. It'll be something I'll deal with for the rest of my life I suppose and hope to hold off surgery for as long as I can.
