Boat blind build.

Duck boats and duck boat blinds!

Boat blind build.

Postby obxbufflehead » Sat Jan 12, 2013 6:58 pm

Started out with 3/4" PVC and built a frame.

The 4by4 with the holes was already on the boat from the old owner. So we built the blind to work with it.

Then we put poultry netting on the frame to hold the grass. Sorry don't have any pics of it with out the grass in it.

No not yet. We shoot mostly divers so I don't think will have to worry about it. Just get down and don't move a lot an I think we'll be fine.

That's correct, even for puddlers. We made nearly the same blind as you did a couple years ago, but yours looks better. Just don't move and you are good to go.

Only problem I had with the blind was that it was kinda permanent, which made it a pain to drive around with.

We made mine where it will fold like a wallet and lay in the boat while your running. I'll take some pics of it folded later tonight and post them.

PVC is gonna break, especially if it gets cold, see how it works, get it dialed in and then re-do it with aluminum

Yeah but it will still break, either by getting drunk and falling into it or bending a girl on to it, better off with metal

OBX, if you need me to come test it out against jehlers claims, you let me know.

Didn't you read jehler's post? He broke it bendin the ol' lady over it. Works great for divers. All you do it attach flags to their hands and head. Divers come piling in.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha. We've never used flags. I have thought about making one or two though.

Here are some pictures of the blind folded up. Sorry there not of it folded in the boat but we had to take it off to put it in the water.

The pics are of both sides folded and laying on each other. It's actually 2 different pieces that fold like a trifold wallet. The center supports go in to a T piece once its on the boat.

I think it'll work just fine. Looks pretty decent, and it'll let other hunters know you are there, lol.

That if you look around a lake, it's easy to spot other hunters and their blinds. Mine is probably easier to see than yours if it makes you feel better:

Ok I see. But here there are no lakes, unless you go inland. But from the blinds I hunt I can see about 15-20 other blinds. It's not going to be any different than what is already out there. Plus it should work well for hunting next to the shore where we have tall grass stuff(don't know what it's called) that looks just like those grass mats.

My biggest grip with PVC is that it's not strong enough to hold on to. You're gonna be in and out of that boat so much and wanting to hold onto the blind frame and it'll break if you even try.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

I don't know why you would say that. If I'm hunting in my boat, I usually stay in it. If I'm not, I'm ditching it, or else I hop out the back by the motor and use that to hold on to. Never had a problem.

Call me George.

My blind would be a PITA if it were conduit. I don't know if it would be heavier? I'll try and dig up a pic of all the piping for it in a second when I get back in the truck so I can hook the charger up to the phone. Long story short, it has to come down, but it fully encloses you.
