I got nothing but time.

Just kidding. But I like building stuff and figure I should be able to get the bulk of it done on a Saturday.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm just going to wing it with mine and see how it goes. If it don't work, I'm out 2 sheets of plywood, a little fiberglass and a shit load of time. I want to build a bigger one some time that will fit 2 people and planning on putting a longtail on it. Figure I can work out some kinks on the little ones.

Total build time varies but its not much. Mine took around 16 hours of actual build to finished paint.

Would you need to fiberglass it if you just wanted to see if it works? Then if it does, fiberglass it after it dries out.

Looking good. What's the overall length on it?

8ft to the inch. My pickup has a short bed and that was a big factor for me.

I want one I can lock in the back of my truck. So about 6'6". Trying to see if anyone has made one that small and if it works.

Mines 7'6", and there's no reason you couldn't shorten it. I would narrow the bulkhead about 4", though, to help with the shorter bow curve, and take another 6" off the cockpit in the front. Wouldn't take any off the back, since it carries the weight.

The only consideration is that this boats strength comes from its fiberglass encapsulation. Plus it would probably leak like a sieve if it's done in a true stitch and glue method unless every hole drilled for the ties are filled.
If you take out testing it in the water and wanted to build one to see if would work I would build one out of cardboard and duct tape. It would be cheap and give the builder a mock boat to see if it fit his needs.

There was a video out there a couple years back where a guy built one if these out of aluminum and put a jet ski motor in it. That thing would haul.

I would love to put a jet ski motor in a 14' Jon boat.

A few people here in town have done it with 12 ft aluminums. They haul ass up and down the river.

That's exactly what I want it for. Wonder how it would be on a square stern canoe? Hmmmm

I've been looking for a few years for a steal of a deal o. A jet ski with a running motor. I even hit up a buddy who is an insurance agent to try to get salvage on one with a cracked hull. I figure all the rest can be had cheap once I get a donor ski

Seen quite a few here for a couple hundred. Seems like most people go for a 550cc ski. This rig would be the tits on my river.
