The obvious answer is to get a motor that's too big to fit in a barrel.

I bet I could still turn that barrel into a smoker and cook some hellacious bbq in it.

Shoot it with a half charge bowmag and you instantly have two halves of the barrel laying there. They will look like they were cut with a torch it's so clean. You can shoot it on the end or standing upright depending how you want it halved.

People who run in salt water have to put it in the barrel every single time. Ain't got nothing to do with "fix".

Well, you could move away from the coast. I hear the fly over states are supposed to be lovely.

Or hook up a flushing kit? I got nothing for the salt water aspect. I think if you can, flushing kits work better than just running them in a barrel. At that point though, why not just make a barrel that you can back your boat up to and drop the motor in without having to monkey with moving the barrel? Those disposable things are everywhere. I mean, people started using then to make bbq with.

The barrel was used on many boats. Stern drives etc.
You simply pull the chocks and roll it to empty. Muffs are not good for your waterpump.
Believe what you want.

Suppose the lower unit has a leak and you think you fixed it.. the barrel test.
Building a smoker out of all my barrels is dumb when I own a very large old fuel oil tank.
It is already on a stand. Cut it in half, put hinges, door, and chimney on and I will have a smoker big enough for whole hogs.
Barrel smoker...rofl.

Now that you said this, I am going to dress it up and incorporate it as an "assafact" elsewhere. Maybe include some references to Old Dutch pronunciations, and slightly off translations through the years, leading to "gravity" instead of "grabbity". I really like it.

Thank you.

Twice a year. If you dont test your engine at least twice a year...you are only hunting once a year.
When huntng...I have to repair things "right now" or no hunting. I take this boat stuff dead-serious.

How is that WOT under load testing in a barrel going for ya? Or do you just idle to your hunting spots?

If it runs, then you should be splashing the boat for any more testing

It smokes up the yard and po's my goofy nosy next door neighbor lady for one. Secondly it gives me a chance to make sure nothing is fucked up before I get to the boat launch looking like a fool with his pants on the ground. Driving 400 miles to find out the motor needs something, anything at all, would suck. Some of us travel great distances to hunt.

I just changed lower units and tested the repair. OK?

The closest boat ramp is 400 miles? I'm talking any body of water. Give the boat/motor a shake down on a local pond even. That's all I'm saying.

Btw, I may have to remember that you've got spare parts, lol

Nearest lake is 35 miles the wrong way. Its a lah tee dah rich fucker lake so I stay away until its duck season. I drive straight to the ducks and start blasting. Try to anyway. Summertime is when I do my get ready for ducks thing. Then start counting down. It is 133 days until my duck season starts. Not long at all.

P.S. You want a barrel? Come and get one.
