You may be anxious to paint, but do yourself a favor and take it out, make sure there are no leaks before you go to the trouble of painting.

The motor mount was added after the fact, since I didn't have a motor when I started, and didn't know what exactly I would need. It was very simple to build with a piece of pressure treated 2x6, mounted with some carriage bolts, and sealed with 5200.

Built mine about the same time as you did. Can't say enough on how well this little boat gets it done.

Yep. I feel like people get tired of hearing about it, but that thing amazes me every time I take it out.

Looks good!! About how much does it weigh without the outboard? And about how many hours did it take you to get this done?

Nuff, mine weighed about 75 pounds minus grass and it took about 18 hours of actual build time.

How much upslope (raise) is there between the bulkhead and the bow? If you were to build another one, are there any dimensions you would change?

It has about 8" of rocker, but I hunt almost all tidal/windy water, so wanted a bit more than "standard". In the flatter bottoms, I envisioned myself "torpedoing" through the waves, which wouldn't have ended well.
As far as changing anything, there is only one thing- I would have build a couple shelves along wither side, and incorporated 2 cup holders. Sounds silly, I know, but that is the one thing that I wish I had every time I go out. Other than that, the boat has surpassed my expectations every time I take it out.

I'm building a 10 footer next spring. Dutch will get to go on a couple hunts towards the end of this season, but more as a spectator than anything, and i want them to be on land. I may bump it up to 12', but am planning on a 10' with pods.

I like your 'rocker' height. I hunt Great Lakes Bays and large lakes in Michigan where it can get rough unexpectedly. I am thinking that the 10' plus pods (similar to the Hybrid NL) would be good for me, but the NL doesn't look like it has enough 'rocker' height. The shelves are a great idea, and you can never go wrong with a cup holder. I will also add a couple waterproof hatches. They are pretty easy to make and a dry cell phone can be handy.

No way new guy just referred to Michigan as unpredictable!

All I did to get my rocker was to attach the straight side of the cutoffs to the bottom instead of the curved, cut sides. Not very scientific, but it worked well.
I also built a scale model mock-up out of manila folders, which was a very big help. I found that the folder material acted almost exactly like the luaun, when it comes to bending. Gave me an excellent idea of how I needed to do it to get the right angles, and saved me some time and money. Even if you have the plans, I'd recommend this.

That is an excellent looking job. Well done and thanks for sharing. I don't know if you are still active here on this forum but, may i ask what type of paint you used and if it is still holding up?

I used Krylon Ultra Flat from Walmart. This will be the 3rd season, and the paint is still perfect, no chipping, no fading, nothing. For the record, I didn't prime anything, just painted it.

Make sure you post a step by step pictorial as the build progresses. That way we can give you tips and advice that make you feel good about your work every step of the way.
