A guy I work with gave me two 1200 lb winches. I was thinking of mounting one in the boat but I'm not sure on battery life or what the best way to go about it. Anyone got any info that will help me out

I carry a small generator in my boat that hook my winch up to when I run big hoop nets.

What size boat do you have? A 2000lb winch wouldn't pull my 1442 Mod v over a dike.
