Have two at the corners. Hoping a pro welder can give me an online estimate so I dont get ripped off.
Its cracked on the other corner too. Not as bad. Guys in the other forum talking about cracks got me looking close at my boat.

Think someone can weld it without catching the boat on fire? Wooden transom and carpet-glue etc...

Fixed the same issue on my boat. If you fab up metal pieces to add support, however it is you need, then let the shop weld it. Then figure $60 an hour for shop time. My bill was for two hours but I really had them weld in a good bit to beef it up ad hit some other spots while it was in.

Thats some cheap shop time. $80-$100 is the shop rate for most places around here.

I just want them cracks welded shut. I know what caused them and will take steps to prevent it in future.

The secondary roads I travel in Arkansas are HELL on the boat because I don't have a transom-saver...yet.

I'm thinking one-hour MAX to weld two cracks. There has to be a minimum...$100 should be about it on this repair. Was hoping for less but it is what it is. I know a guy who welds and he does me deals...I just want to make sure he's happy too.

If you do a little prep (ie. sand off paint) before you get there it should take a matter of minuets to weld up. If its just those 2 tracks I would say less than $50.

Like AB said though, some shops might have a minimum, if not, have a 6 pack of beer handy to give to them when you pay the bill. Youd be surprised what a 6/12 pack can get ya in the future

Just dropped my boat off at the welder today. I found some welds at the transom like the ones you have but also found quite a few that needed fixing under the flooring - including a few rib welds that had started to crack. I had cleaned up all the spots that needed welded which would have added about 4 - 5 hours to the time at $50 per hour. He said he had never had anyone drop off a boat that had been preprepped for welding already. I dropped of a case of Bud Light with the boat for a little incentive to get it done quick.

There's a place in Rantoul, Illinois called Action Rents. I rent a lot of construction tools from them and they rent welders too. The guy who runs the place can weld. I think he'd rather have me rent the welder and have him use it at his shop. That way he don't have to fix what I tear up on the welder. He welded my trailer spindles on for me a couple years ago.

Just did a one day crash course on Aluminum TIG welding today. That's some awkward stuff to weld. I made a box that looked like hell, but it held water, lol.
