Ok guys I have 2 boats to choose from to make a good duck boat out of. Before I start on too much let me say that I hunt in Southern California so I am limited on where I can hunt. My options are Colorado River, Salton Sea and the Ocean in a few areas. I have a couple good size Lakes I can go on if I choose to go a little North but I am sure you know why I need a V-hull. My choices for a boat is a mid 1980's 16' lund or the 1973 Gregor. I will generally be hunting at the Colorado River. The boat will have me 170 lbs, my buddy 240 lbs, and my dog which a 75 lb yellow lab"Loui" and all our hunting gear. Both boats require refurbishing and have good hulls. Just looking for some opinions or advice. I currently have 20 hp Mercury outboard with a prop and I may be getting a 30 hp 1989 Johnson if I need it. Thanks in advance!

Although I've never had one, I've seen Lunds do some crazy stuff up on the big lakes in Minnesota. And people swear by them. But I am no boat expert by a long shot.

Yea, everyone and their mom has a lund around here. I think the bigger concern for you would be the size of the sides if you will be hitting the ocean or bigger water. The 16ft might handle the weight better too. Don't know how big your river is, but around here you can have barge traffic that makes ridiculous waves and if the wind is right you'll come around a bend to some big rollers out of no where.
I've never wanted a littler boat. When I wanted something for little water, I bought a kayak.
