Does anyone have any experience with either of these and riveted boats? What are the pros and cons of them and which one is better to use?

Do you know the boat leaks?

No not yet but a buddy of mine said I may want to be prepared if it has not been in water for a real long time and out in the sun uncovered. Even thought this boat looks like it was built like a tank.

After you get it stripped out, put it on some horses and put water in it. See if it leaks first. I'm a firm believer in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy.

To hell with paying somebody for something you can do yourself" philosophy.

OK sounds like a good idea. This may seem like a dumb question but I have never done it. How do I prop the boat up on saw horses and fill it with water without damaging the boat?

your better off to put it in the water and load it down and look for leaks. Waters heavy as shit and too much on saw horses can cause issues

That sounds a little safer for the boat. I know a place I can definitely do that. Thanks

if it takes on water putting it on blocks and putting some water in it to find what rivets are leaking works, just don't set the boat up and fill it with 18" of water

Repairing or replacing rivets is a better deal then epoxy. Unless it has seen salt water having the boat sit won't make it leak. I have a 1954 that never leaked until 2008 when I let jgun drive it on superior...

What is the best way to fix Aluminum Rivets? And how do you know which ones need replacing? Do you only replace the ones that leak?

I filled my boat on the trailer with about 6 in of water (just enough to get it over the rivet line) and you could tell it was getting heavy. Found the leaks though.

yep, but before you replace you attempt to fix, I'm sure their is you tubes on it but can be done with a pair of hammers in a pinch, if you can't find anything I'll post up a blow by blow in how to

Never used gluvit, but keep a couple tubes of 5200 around. Good stuff
