Trying to get some more done on the new blind. Finished the frame this morning, so I figured I'd start fitting the Camo. Still have to weld the joints and paint. i think I'm going to have to run some cordura underneath the the netting.

Blind Build

Looking good capt. What holds your poles up? I'm guessing the middle one is bungied and flips back?

There is actually 5 poles. The one on the right of that pic is just held up with a piece of decoy cord. The next 3 to the left (you can only see 2 in the pic) make up the roof. The "middle"pole (farthest left in pic) can be pinned in 2 different positions depending on which side of the boat you want to hunt. I'll add a pic of the hinge, that should help explain what I mean better. It's basically a flip over type blind.

The black spot is the pin. If I move it to the hole to the right of it the 3 middle poles shift to let me hunt the other side of the boat. The pole to the far right lays down on the gunnel and the one on the far left lifts. Either way, between the first 2 poles on each side is the "peep hole".

Wow! That looks very professional capt. Keep up the good works and thanks for sharing!

Blind Build

I like it! How do you figure out how far apart to tie the other poles at the top to make it flip back and forth right? Slick set up

Trial and a lot of error! They are just tied with old decoy line right now but I have got around a mile of tan nylon strap to put on once it's welded and painted.

Gotcha, thanks capt. If you ask me this is the way to go no doubt.

This is what I was going to suggest. ^^^

I use it on my blind and love it. Go to your local wally world, in the camping section you should find 1" plastic buckle clips that you can use to hook/un-hook the strap. I break one once in a while and its always nice to have spares in the boat. I think the 2 pack only cost around a buck - best deal I've found other than buying online in bulk.

I also have a total of 6 nylon straps (3 for each side) about a foot long with a buckle to wrap around the blind material/poles for when you are hunting. It keeps every tied up tight.

I'll see if I can find some pics.

You can kinda see it in the travel mode here. The nylon straps are black.

I was wrong, in this pic I didnt roll the material up that day. The straps you can see are the ones that hold up the blind when you clip the straps.

So a friend of mine got me one of the heavy duty nets used on the top of dump trucks to keep stuff from blowing out. I think I might use that under the camo.
I know it wont be water/wind proof but I think it will work well. Thoughts?

Seems just fine to me if all your trying to accomplish is hiding movement inside the blind. It's also free!

So my buddy dropped of the dump truck screen/tarp today so I threw it over the frame to see how it looks. I like it but I think I will need to spray it with flat black, it has a bit of a shine to it. Oh, and the outer blue edge has to be cut off. It's not going to block any wind but it will hide movement!

Once we took one of the ones they use on garbage trucks (probably the same thing you have) to the dunes and strung it up between the trailers for shade, it worked pretty good. I bet it will hide you movement.
