This was last years blind b/c I had a console and outboard on it.





I am going to be making a new one for my new boat layout. It will pivot in the middle like this one but instead of folding down on one side its going to fold down on both sides. The blind last year was too tall although it gave you alot of room to move around. I am going to start a blind build thread, so everyone can follow along.

Lol. My son looks like a small tyke in the picture, but he is sitting on the floor of the boat!! He's 16 years old 6'1" and one heck of a hunting buddy . Here is a pic of him.

I came across a boat identical to this one this spring, except it had a 150 Yamaha instead of the Honda 115.

Brand new $24,700 plus tax....such an idiot.

It's pretty much my ideal open water layout tender. Damn.

to be honest I don't know that much about them anymore. When I was selling boats the smoker craft brand was lower end, I haven't been in the bis since 2003 though and haven't kept up. A lot could have changed. Aluminum was thinner than comparable, no name plastic through hulls, thin wood floors, cheap gauges, wiring and rigging etc fit and finish a little rough. kinda like a bay liner of tin boats. The market has changed a LOT though in the last few years, wouldn't surprise me if they have stepped up to keep competitive.

Maybe I was impressed because we don't see many welded hull deep vees here.
Hull specs are about 1.5x thicker than a Lund Alaskan and that thing is a tank.

It's no Hewescraft, but it doesn't have the price tag either.

you mind if I ask what that hull cost ya gang? I have a 225 outboard on a checkmate speed boat that I hate. A hull like that would be a real good fit for me. Maybe a bit longer, is that a 22'?

Jehler, privateers can be found used pretty cheap around here. I saw a hull for sale for around 2,500 recently. I believe privateer is out of mass production and is now custom order only. New they are pretty dang high. They are shallow running, handle good, and are dry boats. Hang on to it if you get your hands on one.

It's been difficult locating a hull. The motor is a 225 with a 20" shaft. Other than bass boats it hard to find a hull rated for 225 that isn't a 25 inch transom. Recently I've started looking at older I/o's with crao engines, thinking about modifying the transom with a Gil or something....
