Gator Trax and What We Do

Gator Trax started in 2000 in South, LA. When we first started out, there was us, and Go Devil. That's it. No one else was making a custom duck boat in mass production with the key features that are now in todays market, benchmarks. Over the last 13 years and thousands of boats (literally)....we have listened to our customer base and designed hulls and accessories that get you to where you want to go in shallow water first...then secondly, once you get there, allow you to do what you went there for easily and in comfort. That's what we do.

Our affiliation with Mud Buddy motors is longstanding and everyone that knows us knows that. However, what you may not know is that we also sell Gator Tail and Prodrive motors, Yamaha, and Mercury as well. We don't built motors. We sell them. WE BUILD BOATS...boats are what we do and we are good at it!

We offer over 50 sizes of hulls with literally countless interior custom designs, motor options all over the map, and a lifetime warranty on our hulls. We make them from .125 or .190, but never thinner. We offer our customers the ability to dream about a boat the way they want it, then the chance to have that dream boat built for them the way they want it.

We wont be the cheapest, we WILL be the best. Note a couple things. Because we are a small company (about 30 employees) we are a family here. We do not take on extra help in August and then lay people off just in time for Christmas. Which wouldn't be a problem if duck hunters remembered when the season starts! Buuuuuut...they don't. So we get swamped at the last minute each year with orders and can get like we are now...10-12 weeks out. Keep this in mind if you find that Gator Trax is the boat for you...order early.

I will add some more pics to this thread as we go along but I will start with one of our newest editions the Gen II. This is an adaptation to the original Gator Hide we developed back in 2006. The original Hide works great, but there are some aspects that some guys don't like. Laying out to hunt is not for everyone, the sides are short (so you can see over them laying down) and the boat is 62" wide on the bottom, which keeps you from getting in tight areas sometimes. The Gen II answers all of these concerns and more. Check it out. http://www.gatortraxboats.com/c-70-gato ... en-ii.aspx

thank you!!

The concept of the Gen II is to be as low profile as one can get...without laying down. You still shoot from the seated position from a swivel chair...you just eliminate the sit up. The head covers flip back out of the way and the low front wall allows you to shoot from the decoys to the blue sky uninhibited. Its really a cool boat. Best part is...remove 9 bolts and this is what you have the other 10 months of the year.

This is a 3-man version without the blind..just a normal 16 1/2ft wide open gator trax to fish, bow fish or ride with the kids. The first pic was of a 4 man version, it is 19 1/2ft.

Great looking boat!! Looks like the blind is pretty easily removable for summer time use. Some day when I'm done spending money on school...

here is a better look at it undressed and how you would have it set to drive...face shields have been removed with quick snap detent pins to be stored under starboard side while traveling the highway or waterway.

I guess now would be a good time to show you the Original Gator Hide...(1st Generation if you will)

this boat is for those of you that are 1. mad at em....2. young enough to layout hunt without backpains and can do sit ups
3. have no other option because there is NO place to hide. I have to say, it is probably the deadliest boat blind we have ever made...the sides are 16" tall and you draft 4", so even with the brush rail you have 14" to 15" INCHES...read that again...INCHES sticking up above the water...that's it.

4 man version has 4 cockpits with layout blind style doors and is 19.5' long

3 man version has 3 cockpits and is 16' long.

with the addition of a couple modular components, it can go from a duck slaying machine, to a fishing / bowfishing machine

I hear that! Thanks. And you are right, it IS easy to remove. In fact, if we started at the same time, me with a traditional fastgrass pop up blind and you with the Gen II..youd be fishing by the time I got the pop up blind off.

Don't want to clog the board up with multiple threads..by now you are either interested in this thread or not so I will just keep sharing pics and info with you here for those still with us.

Next I want to show you the Gators Nest. This is a spawn of the Gen II for field hunters. Not everyone needs a boat. Some of you (myself included) have property we hunt with flooded rice, corn, CRP, or whatever. In the past you may have laid down in sparse cover on the bank...in mud...not really hidden..and spin your wheels all morning while the ducks that are already shy of the levee or bank anyway land 80 yards out in the middle and give you the middle toe nail. Or..you have the farmer dig a giant hole, or multiple holes in his fields or levees that he now has to plow and bush hog around every year. (he LOVES that BTW) Even though the pit blind is great for concealment..you cant move if the ducks don't want to be where YOU are. What is rule #1 for duck hunting?.....There is NO substitution for being where the ducks what to be! No call, no spread will do it. We've all fought that losing battle. With this...you just move. It is basically the Gen II cockpit in a nice little 300lb package. It fits in a truck bed...it is made of .125 so you can drag it down a mud levee road to the next field they decide to use tomoro. It offers as low of a profile hunt as possible without laying down. TOTAL concealment from the top and stable as a concrete platform. N

Now, instead of bird watching from your pit blind...you can MOVE TO THE DUCKS X. And you can do it easily. Throw guns, dekes, blind bags, mojos...shells...in the boat, walk along side of it using it for balance thru the slop of a rice field to where you are going. Or, get IN and pole it. Or pop a 30lb thrust trolling motor and battery on it and sip a coke while you take 3 guys and all their gear 400 yards with ZERO effort. Set spud poles...and hunt.

more of the Gators Nest features. Here you can see the swing step (optional) for entering the boat in deeper water. The adjustable spud pole kit (standard) for hunting water up to 4ft deep. (longer poles are available if you have special circumstances). And the seat bases on the floor accept any 3/4 pin seat you want to use.

In normal low profile situations in layout blinds...after you do your sit up your weight is on your butt cheeks. So your swing range from left to right is limited to how much your back will twist, when you run out of range you must "butt hop" a little to readjust. With the Gen II and the Gators Nest..you are on a SWIVEL chair with backrest. So you do not have to perform a sit-up...you are already there. And you just about double your swing range without the need to readjust.

Here is a video link on the Nest....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5sbWHdS ... b&index=26

Here you can see the optional dog platform...the spud pole system...and the bungee assisted flip top lids that help spring back the flip tops. Same system as on the Gen II boat blind.

Back off!!!
Great lakes is where it's at. Tons of hunters, and with the receding water levels guys are looking to replace their outboard rigs. I'd be a great rep. :-)

Weather is too unpredictable there, has to go to the WCH and we could promote the hell out of it.

Exactly. With a quick wind switch the water could drop a foot in a matter of min. With an outboard that could leave you pulling for miles. With a nice gator trax you could still finish out your hunt, and give the outboard guys a pull to deeper water. These this all but sell themselves. All you need is a little publicity up here. And we all know I'm the one for that. :-D
