Ha! I didn't know that was you. You had my brother and I laughing at work watching you beat the piss out of that light.

"The best stern light ever" would be twice that long, so it didn't interfere as much with standing skippers' night navigation.

depends on the skipper I guess...used it all teal season and on youth weekend...didn't blind this skipper.

Glad it worked out for you. When I ran where I had to have lights to be legal, I (and most every other coonass on the bayou) taped the front of lights that height, which made a significant difference.

Tape will stick to this one too my brother.

I'm sure it will, but still wouldn't want to find out if tape will earn a citation from an unsympathetic agent. Non-issue for me these days as my night running is all in private marsh without lights.

In any event, sorry to have rocked your boat. Best of luck selling your lights.

I'd like a stern light that's 12 feet tall. In my little 7 foot hybrid, any light I've ever tried has absolutely blinded me, since it's only about a foot from my head.

I hear ya, I hear Rick too. The issue is that the almighty USCG (say that with head bowed in holy reverence) demands that light be seen for 360 degrees. Having said that, I cant change that part. But having one so tall has its own problems too. What you gonna do with it when you don't want it sticking up any more? Nothings perfect, this one is close. I used it with no issues at all with blinding. You could always mount a bracket 2ft tall somewhere and mount it on top of that if it bothers your night vision that bad, but I bet it wont. Anyway, its a far stretch better than anything else offered out there, that's for certain.

Timber and that stern light do NOT work. Nobody runs lights except headlights or spotlights. Its a given. I put my 5-foot stern light in when setting decoys sometimes. Other than that it's just another pole in the boat.

exactly, that's why this one is so much better. You have a limb hit it, it just lays backwards and you can stand it back up...if and when you decide to...unbroken. But at least you don't get a ticket for not using a rear light.

The timber is what this light was designed for really

I have lights all over my boat. How much is this whip/light and does it hurt when it smacks you from laying down sideways?

You haven't watched the video.....have ya? lol

Its not a whip, its on a ram mount, when it gets knocked down, you have to grab it and stand it back up......SO THAT....it doesn't smack you.

That would hurt like hell to get nailed in the back if it did spring back up. Good thinking. :-)
