Swamp runner kits

Has anyone had any experience with the swamp runner mud motor kits you can put together? I was thinking the medium one with a 15 hp engine to put on it.

Not sure about those, but I feel like it would be cheaper to buy the Mad Mud Motor plans off eBay a build your own. I heard they are pretty easy if you have a welder. If not, Assa has one if you live anywhere near the peoples republic.

Where do you live and where do you want to use the swamp runner kit?

I live in Kansas where 90% of the time I will be over deep water. My current motor has a shear pin and I am tired of always having to replace it. I thought this would be a good fix however my motor now is a 25 hp and I would be looking at probably a 15. The mud motors you can buy at cabelas and places are worth more than my whole setup.

If your over deep water the majority of the time you'd be better off with an outboard. Get a model that doesn't use sheer pins and you'll be fine.
