There is no one OEM prop, when you rig a motor to a boat you have a range of props suggested for the usage of the motor and you have to water test to get the right one

I've never bought a new boat, so maybe this isn't the case. When I go to the marina and buy a motor, it comes with a prop or no?

yep, with little motors anyway, but it's normal for them to swap them out until it's right. If you walk in and lay cash down for a motor and walk out nobody is gonna give a shit what prop you have, we called that a lay down

But they'll "trade out" the one it comes from the factory with, or they don't come with one from the factory?

thats what we did, I never sold a motor without a factory prop regardless of wether it came with one it not. I think all the motors 25 and under came with a middle of the road kinda prop but I can't remember well enough to say 100%

But yes, any of the new in box props on our shelf may have been on a motor and water tested several times and put back in the box.

We would also let customers pay for a prop and try it out and keep swapping till they got what they wanted, as long as they didn't scratch the paint so to speak, that was kind of standard practice, not sure if it still is

Looking at the shape of my prop and the new ones in the photos mine looks to be really worn out. Not to mention the chunk missing from it.

Hold on...
Flint. Not sure if you've tried tuning the carb while running. Its easy.
Run at idle and adjust it leaner and leaner til it starts quitting. Open the adjustment half or three quarters of a turn back out and it should be close.
Your pickup and high end will improve if you have it right. That prop you have ain't that bad. Should at least work
I've heard that it's incredibly stupid to fuck around with a crazy man's head.

Never got the chance. The day Before i was going to take it out a trailer bearing went out. So I just said fuck it. Put the motor up for sale and tore I to the trailer, next is the boat and ill be trying to sell this junker and get a newer better outboard.
