My brother is going to build the same boat but he will make it 11 feet. Should be pretty nice

I got to take the boat out this weekend she is one sweet ride. I am going to put a 25 hp Johnson on it. I will put a video of her running soon.

I feel inadequate. You're putting a bigger motor on that than I have on my 14ft aluminum boat

The boat will not plain out just right so I think moving up will make it run better. And the bout is heavy for sure. Me and my brother hunted out of it and did some test shooting. Both standing up shooting like we were in ground shooting

I suspect it's the bottom of the hull. Somebody told me once that what I built on my hybrid is a displacement hull (I know little to nothing about boats), and that even if I put a 25hp on it, it wouldn't truly "plane". I believe it, because, while I love hunting from it, it handles like a garbage scow.

Is there a "belly" in the bottom from the bow to stern or is it flat?

There is a little bit of a belly on it. From front to back. And it took four guys to get it on the trail

Sounds like you have a displacement hull. It pushes through the water rather than getting on top like a planing hull. A displacement hull is very stable and can handle rougher water typically, but is slower and takes more power to push. Did it ride nose up the entire time? If so, thats what you've got.

Yeah the noise is up while I am running. So do you think putting the 25 hp on there will help push it.

It will but it's more than likely not going to break out and get completely on top. I've pushed a displacement hull past it's hull speed. They make some funny noises and do weird things. I'd recommend the larger motor and put some weight in it to get used to running it for the season.

Good job on the build. These boats really look awesome. ive been drooling over the pics on their website for the last hour. next spring im gona start building one of their simpler plans either the pirouge or the big mamma for the experience and then jump into trying to build this model after that.love the fact that they can be customized in so many ways, and as with anyhting so much cheaper to build than buy.

I really enjoyed working on this boat. She has come a long way from lumber. Build one and you will not be unhappy with it.

Is the inside glassed at all? For that matter, is any of it glassed? Since I have a trailer, and will hopefully have a dog by next season, I may make one of these instead of a bigger hybrid.

The whole boat is glasses. And I also I built a dog ramp to.

I've been wanting a single man boat. I just don't hunt with enough people to keep my boat around I think.

i wonder if they make anything like this for small outboards....
used to have one on my grandfathers inboard/outdrive bowrider. it would get on plane real quick.

IMO your better suited with trim tabs instead of putting extra force on your outboard.

Great job on that thing. Digging the design too. What are the specs on it? Length, width, weight? Stable enough to hunt a dog from?

Boat is 14 feet long inside hole is 42 wide am the top hole is 26 wide. Stable like a Rock two guys standing up shooting no problem. Takes two foot waves great. Hits super well. Fun boat to ride in

I will be hunting a dog about 80lb out of it this winter.
