I've thought real hard about it. But after I looked into a lot of the parts and the time and effort to build one you weren't coming out much ahead money wise. But using something home built always makes me feel better. If you do decide to build one make sure to make a build thread.

Also, check out the copperhead surface drives. They look like pretty badass little motors and have a lot of good reviews and aren't crazy expensive.

Which kit are you looking at. I know there is one that is set up for pretty light duty work that you might be disappointed with. I have no firsthand experience with any of this, so take it for what it's worth. Haha

It's like Thai or something like that. It's just a straight shaft with no frame and an aluminum prop. Just doesn't look like something that will hold up to stumps and rocks.

I'm looking at the medium kit.
They run aluminum props but you can also upgrade to a threaded shaft and run a godevil prop etc..but his props are 20 a pop vs 60 and up so may be feasible to just keep 4-5 around

Gotcha. We'll good luck and keep us updated on how well it works out.
