Did I understand correctly that you were describing a scotch quadruple?

Hope your bout with covid stays as mild as mine was!
1 shot 4 teal... on the water

That makes it a Cajun fourple.

As my long time hunting buddy says "I am going to jump 'em up." I'll bet the rest jumped up nicely

I always wanted to get a video zoomed in on a Suzie paddling around in the decoys and then just blam so when some self righteous idiot is condemning waterswatting or shooting hens, I can post it up

Of course pretty tough to do when you are lucky to even kill a duck the entire season any more. :(

Looks like fun!

With a 2 year old kid running around and watching movies the first thing that came to mind when I saw your pup was Bambi saying “hey Mom, what’s with all of this white stuff?”

Date: January 14 (covid quarantine hunt)

Time: saw all I needed to see by 9:30

Location: south blind

Cloud Cover: clear

Wind Direction and Velocity: SSW 7-10 then 10-15 after sunrise (perfect)

Temperature: 30's to warmer

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: thinking this weather would produce a pretty hunt I brought my pretty wife

Waterfowl Activity: D E A D dead
Only ducks were some local pintails working the farm south of us that came by us twice but no interest, and 3 specks came low from behind me on silent mode. Once they passes I called to them and they set their wings but didn't turn, just headed north.

I only thought it was slow when I last went on the 3rd

Waterfowl Responsiveness: nothing

Hunters: just me and Tricia suffered along

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Dog(s):

Special Equipment: 2 new mojos on remote

Kudos: Tricia knows how frustrated I am and she's very understanding about it all.

curses: I got grouchy pretty fast after no flight before sunrise. All the geese we had left and what few ducks were around left too. I've gotten mad my last 3 hunts up there and I'm tired of getting mad so I don't know if I'll go again....I don't need to get mad about duck hunting but I can't help it. Haven't fired my gun since before Christmas on lease. We aren't only people struggling, folks on farm south of us haven't been going either.

Birds By Species:

Photo Ops:

P.S. all probably deer hunting through the weekend since I'm on my 10 days of quarantine and couldn't hunt with anyone even if I wanted to.

Kinda tired of having to "look for the positives" or "on the bright side"...

In all seriousness, I'm thankful I'm not in hospital with covid, but dang this duck season.

I know the feeling man. Trust me you aren’t alone. Price of leases should come down after this season. Have had a lot of friends say they’re done.

Any reports from the prior farm you hunted? Was last season any good at current farm?

Can’t speak for Eric but I’ve made sure to avoid any talk of how our previous lease has done. Ignorance is bliss for me.

I keep in touch with the guys who are still on old lease. They've been getting their pintails lately with an occasional mallard or gadwall. No teal or spoons which is highly unusual for that farm. Although they aren't showing the amount of water that they used to.

They aren't hunting the pit I had but the one to the north of me where they hunted while I was there.

Date: January 23

Time: left at 11

Location: old lease where I hunted from 2014 to last year

Cloud Cover: heavy to almost partly to heavy with some drizzle

Wind Direction and Velocity: ENE 8-10

Temperature: 40's

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: stayed in touch with the guys who are still hunting the pit north of my old one and have had a few invites to hunt with them and hunted with them today.

Waterfowl Activity: confirmed my suspicions that we had more birds in morehouse parish than what I was seeing at our lease. Steady duck flight all morning of all kinds. Geese all over but stayed on ground

Waterfowl Responsiveness: I hunted as a guest and didn't get my calls out because I wasn't asked to, but really wanted to.

Hunters: me and 3 guys who I had never hunted with but hunted a half mile from for several years

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Dog(s): Lola

Special Equipment:

Kudos: was good to see the flight I remembered, and am glad these guys were able to stay on farm since they had a camp up there, can only hope I can get back on it at some point. Had open invite to come back but probably going to west Texas next weekend to hunt with david.

curses: we shot bad....and lost a few birds

Birds By Species:
3 gadwall
3 green winged teal
1 shoveler
1 pintail
1 mallard

Reassuring for you seeing the flights if nothing else, though I feel you on the poor shooting. It's been bad the last two mornings for sure, albeit we're not exactly talking feet down over decoys, it's late January and they're smart.

It did. I genuinely hope the guys have a better year next year. Unless something unexpected happens though, I'll be without lease next year and be doing a lot more traveling and hunting different places.
