Glad that you are making good progress on your camp while the weather is still mild  Are the mosquito numbers lower now, than in the coming, warmer months?

They're not too bad, yet. At dusk we're starting to get a few.

No. They were 80's. See pallet on that flat bed, and the trailer load of drill pipe.

Quite an investment for a fellow who's giving ducks up for deer...

Deer? That's not me..... I did the company deer lease thing somewhat unwillingly years back, and I'm not doing that again.

Body parts made funny noises, and I was sore for a few days. That should be the most labor intensive part we have going forward.

With the lack of migration and threat of hurricanes, I really don't know how I continue to be optimistic with this endeavor.

This is an article published by the Urbana Daily Courier of Champagne-Urbana Illinois in 1914. We for sure don't have this problem anymore.

Long day adding steel to the main frame. We have a bit more steel to add and weld over the next month or so before we add the roof to the exterior awnings. The concrete will then be pressure washed and sanded if need be. It's going to be a long process having only weekends to do this work.

Me, welding the angle clips to the pipe that will attach to the east and west end purlins.

Welding the last of the eight drill pipe to it's anchored flange. The main structure frame we saved and somewhat straightened since the hurricanes.

View of the pipe we've added so far. We have lot more to go yet.

We've come a long way.

The marsh restoration project near our blind that I've mentioned here a time or two is starting. We can hear every morning the sound of airboats carrying operators to their excavators and other equipment . It's going to be an interesting summer.

Great stuff Dave. Hopefully that restoration work makes for a lot of "fresh" habitat, I've found to be duck magnets on my end.

Hate to have bailed on the project after transferring crates, but the alternative would have been far worse...

Good on ya Rick and DC! Looked to be a good turnout of folks per Ramsey Russell’s Instagram page, if y’all were at the same function.

You made me go and take a look, and that was us..... The video was of yesterday mornings final release of the many that were captured. Saturday was awesome in numbers as well. Lots of young biology students on these two excursions.

Very cool, know they appreciated the extra hands ! Guess we need a full on WFF meet-up one day to do some banding.

Knowing they readily gathered big crews for them had discouraged me from spring banding in years past, but it's so much more pleasant than our fowl weather captures, that I'll likely keep tagging along then, too. With luck, one last one weekend after next...

Standing quietly, listening to their whispered conversations on the trailer in the pre dawn darkness makes me feel old. I did smile and chuckle a few times, though.

Don't feel too bad, Ella and I felt the same. And boy did I pick up on one to tell....another time, not on the internet.

Makes me feel really old to have initially thought you were talking about listening to the birds, instead of the kids.

I checked Roger's last week, and they had a few in stock. Don't imagine the prices will get get any better between now and the season.
