Opening day deer

I got the opportunity to take our babysitters son out for his very first hunt ever today. We headed in yesterday afternoon and set up a spike camp. On our way in we saw a nice buck in 20 yds from us. He was still in velvet. A little farther down the trail we had a young bull moose in the middle of the trail. After a bit of yelling at it, it finally left. We got to our spot, set up camp and started glassing. We spotted 4 bucks. Things were looking up for the hunt to come. For the last hour of the evening we watched another bull moose about 100 yds from camp. Zero dark-thirty rolled around and we were off to our spot. When we got to our spot I say down, lifted my binoculars to my face and said there's deer. There were three deer. The biggest was the closest one at 225. After what seemed like forever, dillon finally found him in the scope. When he pulled the trigger there was no bang. Then the buck slipped into the trees. I thought that buck was never to be seen again. But then he reappeared in a little opening at 271yds. This time the gun fired but the deer didnt move. He missed. He then took a deep breathe and squeezed off the fatal bullet. He made an excellent liver and lung shot. We retrieved the trophy and then the work begain. This trip was awesome and I think it will be something that 12 yr old boy will remember the rest of his life. I can't wait until my boy is big enough to join me on trip like that.

That's exactly what we would call it.

If we were under educated whitetail hunters.

I didn't see those the first time. I'm going to side with the ten point comment. If that's wrong you muley hunters are silly.

Whitetail are a lot less complicated and taste a lot better to boot.

I've had blacktail whitetail and mule deer and they are all good.

I've had mule and whitetail, no distinct differences in taste.

You've never had a muley that had been munching on sage brush then.
