Elk down!

Postby quackhead » Fri Nov 15, 2013 1:59 pm

Well as you all know, I took our babysitters 12 yr old son out for his first deer and first antelope. Then I let his mom and her boyfriend take him out for elk. Today was the last day of elk season so I figured I would take him out and see if I could get him on an elk. About 10 min after legal shooting light we were looking at 100 elk. I tried to tell him which elk to shoot but that wasn't working very well, so I finally just told him to pick a cow that was not tight to other elk and put the crosshairs on the top of the shoulder and squeeze. That's what he did. At 385 yds he hit his elk at the base of the neck and it dropped. It's not big but it's gonna eat great. I think I have now ruined this kid. Only time will tell.

If I shoot one that size this fall I'm going to be very excited. Perfect eating size for a single dude.
