Time: packed up at 7:45 to scout for tomorrow

Location: Graford hole

Cloud Cover: cloudy

Wind Direction and Velocity: none

Temperature: 60's

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: was hoping for big south wind, was blowing hard in Fort Worth when we left this morning but none up in Graford.

Waterfowl Activity: jacks put on a show

Waterfowl Responsiveness: jacks are the jerk string up. Puddlers lit wide

Hunters: david and I

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Dog(s):

Special Equipment:

Kudos: watching the jacks, saving them for Sunday's hunt.

curses: no wind

Location: Brazos ranch

Cloud Cover: partly to clear

Wind Direction and Velocity: WNW to N back to NW 10-15

Temperature: 40's

Moon phase:

Special Notes: David hasn't hunted this ranch this year. So it was nice to hunt fresh birds

Waterfowl Activity: gadwall, ring-necks l, and pintail did exactly what we set up for them to. Shot the mallard off of smaller tank on a flush

Waterfowl Responsiveness: they were coming

Hunters: David, Beckton, and I

Guns: Beckton's dad has a Citori that kicks like a mule. Going to let him shoot something else tomorrow

Kudos: fun to be on the X

curses: wish there were more birds around but there just aren't.

Special Notes: brought a boy and his dad on first duck hunt.

Waterfowl Activity: they all moved 10 minutes early

Waterfowl Responsiveness: they landed where we wanted them

Hunters: me david Beckton, his friend and friends dad

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Special Equipment: jerk string

Kudos: boys got to see some birds up close before legal and then shoot a few

curses: front equaled a net loss of birds from the 100 jacks we let swim around Friday

Location: Brazos ranch pond

Cloud Cover: clear

Wind Direction and Velocity: started off in our face then switched after sunrise to forecasted NW

Temperature: upper 20's

Barometer:

Moon phase: sliver

Special Notes: good quick hunt, now headed back to Fort Worth to spend rest of day with Tricia on her birthday

Waterfowl Activity: they all came right before legal but thankfully stayed and bunched up

Waterfowl Responsiveness: we figured how to hunt this hole last trip and were again on the X.

Malfunctions:

Dog(s):

Special Equipment: 2 mojos on remote but didn't turn on until sunrise

Kudos: the ducks all came right before legal and landed here and there but then proceeded to all swing to our decoys and knot up.

curses: david fell while setting decoys and got wet. lost my sunglasses but they are replaceable. Had 3 sprigs on water early and was hoping other 2 would come back but they didn't.

Cloud Cover: clear

Wind Direction and Velocity: calm

Temperature: bottomed out. Left Fort Worth in low 30's, 19 at sunrise. Temp really bottomed out

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: watching low pressured birds come in and be happy was more enjoyable than the actual shooting.

Waterfowl Activity: had 50 or so gadwall, teal, jacks, and a few wigeon in the decoys at legal

Waterfowl Responsiveness: on the x

Hunters: david and I

Guns:

Malfunctions: we each missed 1 shot

Dog(s):

Special Equipment: didn't turn on mojos

Kudos: good selective shooting and hopefully out quick enough that they'll be ready for tomorrow

curses: wanted Tricia to come watch and this would have been the one to see. But it was pretty cold

Time: packed up at 9 once David and Daniel got back from jumping other tanks

Location: dark valley (same as yesterday)

Cloud Cover: clear

Wind Direction and Velocity: calm becoming light SW

Temperature: upper 30's then warming up quick

Barometer:

Moon phase:

Special Notes: last day of the season and last day for david and i to hunt together unless we can make something work next year around Christmas, he and his wife move to Seattle in March.

Waterfowl Activity: not as big of a daylight flurry but we did not miss

Waterfowl Responsiveness: what came, came good.

Hunters: david, Daniel, and me

Guns:

Malfunctions:

Dog(s):

Special Equipment: 2 mojos turned off until sunrise and a pulsator that made the early ducks skittish and fly off before legal.

Kudos: we shot well and got everything picked up.

curses: hated we educated so many yesterday

What's great about it is my wife and dog always come, so we hunt in morning then go out and eat in evenings.

Also there's a neighborhood park pond that is always loaded with gadwall and wigeon where we walk Amos.
