Indulged in the spoils of the season over the weekend.

My dad played the accordion, harmonica and violin. On weekends he would sit and play for hours. This sound was always part of my life when I was growing up, up until he passed in 92. I wish I would have taken it up at a younger age, though I did mess with it some.

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission (LWFC) adopted an amendment to the 2023-25 hunting regulation notices of intent (NOI) that will alter the second and third split dates for the West Zone duck season for 2023-24. The action came during the commission’s March meeting March 2 in Baton Rouge.
Final approval of the 2023-25 hunting regulation NOI amendments will come at the May LWFC meeting, set for May 4.
The changes will occur during the second and third splits. The first split will run from Nov. 11, 2023-Dec. 3, 2023, which is unchanged. The second split will be from Dec. 11, 2023-Jan. 7, 2024 and the third from Jan. 13, 2024-Jan. 21, 2024. Youth and veterans weekend will still be held Nov. 4-5, 2023.

Off topic but the Arkansas season will now start the first Saturday after Thanksgiving.
The 1rst split will still be 9 days.
The second and third revolve around a Christmas break and getting the other 51 days in.
Ends the last day it's allowed. Usually January 31.
It'll be easier for me.
Oosers don't get to hunt the wmas in split two.

The area that I did the fancy edit job on your photo should improve the next couple days in regards to snow cover. We definitely need it as for the most part we are dry. Our warm January and most of February melted a lot of snow.

It definitely is! I watched the noon report and now they have us in the 12 to 16 inch range. We’ve had these storms stall on us before and then we get the 20+ inches. That will make work for me a nightmare but I’m willing to sacrifice that so you guys can have some ducks next fall

Still find myself referencing "blues," rather than "snows" unless addressing folks from away, as that's what they all were called when I moved to Southwest Louisiana in '83. Little doubt because Louisiana's light geese were nearly all blues that wintered in the deep coastal marshes until discovering rice around the '60s or so. Such was also the case in Texas, where nearly all light geese were snows wintering in the deep marsh prior to discovering rice and starting to more commonly mix color phases during mate choosing time. And that mix was still heavily weighted toward blues in our area when I arrived.

Though the phases had been mixing during pair bonding for some time by my arrival, white-bellied blues were still rare enough that shooting a (then-five bird) limit of them was sort of a grand slam for some of us. Was even a season back there when a couple Canadian biologists camped in our guide shack and collected hearts for DNA study of the phenomenon. Also still remember a friend with permits to raise blues remarking about not knowing what it cost to send those biologists down here, but that he could have saved them the trouble for the price of a phone call.

I don't hunt many, if any weekdays so I'm okay with that. Last year trying to run it to the end of the season in this 60 day liberal set up we lost a weekend in early January. I'm going to look at a 45 day season with one split using this seasons calendar dates to see what could be.

It should be pointed out that if your kids walk to school that change in the clocks means they walk in daylight instead of darkness.
Of course nobody walks to school. Walking is for suckers.
Have thought about it and if it were up to me I'd leave things the way they are.
There is no benefit at all from changing the system at this point or we'd have done it already.
