Preseason 2023-2024

Waders are on clearance at Rogers sporting goods. 50% off in some cases.

I just ordered a pair of their toughman 2 in 1 insulated breathables for $150. It’ll be my first foray into the world of breathables. My trusty cabelas super mags sprung a leak last year on a very chilly hunt. Patched them up best I can but don’t expect them to last long.

I left my waders in dumpster in Maine. Definitely in a need of a new pair.

Those look pretty good and the price seems good. So if I don't like them I'm going to blame you ;)

Yep I’m looking forward to the slim model as well. My buddy had some years ago and they looked like clown pants.

Breathables or bust down on our end, or maybe even death. Neoprene is about gone down this way, and now we wear waders for Sept teal in the marsh (and flip flops at Rick's blind), and simply layer beneath with wader pants during regular season.

If I had to buy another pair this season, likely would be Rogers. Been wearing waist-high Gator waders for a good few seasons now with only one tiny leak to show for it (likely from roseau cane stalk puncture). They've since quit making the camo versions I have in waist high. But heck, for $150 may be worth ordering a pair of those you got, looks like they have my size.

Keep us posted on how they work out for you.

Yeah if I hunted south LA I’d have switched to breathables a long time ago. In warm weather scenarios around home I usually get away with some thin hip waders but these will allow me not to have to worry about getting my socks wet, until they leak. Another factor was I used to hike some long distances through some thickets and briars. Those days seem to be farther behind me than I’d like due to too many hours behind a desk and not enough at the gym. I’ll be sure to update the log with how they work out for me. Even though they’re insulated (removeable), I’ll be tempted to go back to my trusty super mags when cold weather (hopefully) arrives.

That was one of the things I liked. I don't use waders often, but it could be anything from hot to cold. I think I can make them work for any situation. My other ones were too heavy when it was not cold, so I rarely wore them except when it was cold and I was too cheap to get a second pair. Largely because I just don't wear waders often. So hopefully I can just wear these instead of trying to make due with cheap rain pants or trying not to get water in those big holes at the top of the hip boots when its too warm for my old waders.

Waders showed up today. I always forget how quickly Rogers ships things.

First impressions are they’re a little tighter than I’d like at the top of the boot. Will definitely need ankle gaiters for pants without elastic. Boots are comfortable. Even the slim model is still a little baggier than I’d like but it comes with a wading belt and adjustment at the top under the armpits. Nice little waterproof phone compartment at the top. 10 shell loops and a warm fleece lined pocket.

Time will tell if they succeed doing what I really got them for, keeping me dry. I expect about 2 seasons from breathables. Would be tickled with 3.

I received my waders today, probably the best fitting that I've had over the years.
But there's still nothing slim about waders...
I do like the pockets, if they hold up as well as my Cabela's they will be well worth the 150...

Much easier to get in and out than my old cheap ones. Also much easier to move in them. Definitely a big step up from my last pair.

I ordered a pair of the Roger's elite's in December 2021 and have been happy with them. I ordered the slims and like that part too.

Rinella’s personality is a little abrasive but the info here is good.

I hunted with the new waders all year, 25 hunts, a couple days in single digit temperatures and didn't have to rob the Buddy heater from Trigger... Overall they must be handier than my old ones or I would have went back... Ran into a few sawbriers unexpectedly but they held up no holes or leaks... Overall they look nearly New, few scratches on the boots... For $165 with tax give or take, and 25 hunts that puts me at $6.60 per hunt, if they make it one more year, it will be, sure enough, a bargain... We'll see...
