I scrolled through my log and came up with 15 ducks in 9 hunts for this season....An all-time low for me. Could be worse. My older next door neighbor told me Saturday as they were leaving that he didn't fire a shot this season, Many in our area had similar experiences.

No teal season, and we didn't start the regular season until the 1st weekend of the second split. It's been rough for the last few years with the two hurricanes and now a drought. The camp rebuild is still ongoing and is at a snails pace. The price of material right now is ridiculous. Pup in the house and no sleep.

Why do I continue to endure this madness?

Worth noting that most of these counts were all done before winter showed up. Did some corresponding with J this morning and he's getting some stellar reports since the weather changed.

Also interesting from him for interests near my marsh lease:

We fly an extra, small transect line through the Canaervon diversion for CPRA and there were more birds than I’ve seen in a decade. Gadwall and ring-necks.
