Out early this a.m. nothing gobbling, and didn't kick anything off the roost. Sat at 1st spot for about 20 minutes when I hear a hen clucking, yelping, and coming my way. She started to drift off so I got on the slate and brought her in. At one point she was 10 feet in front of me and never had a clue. I figured, what's better than a live decoy so for the next 40 minutes I let her do the work. Every time she started to wander off I called her back. It was awesome, unfortunately it didn't lead into shooting a gobbler. I did see a lot of deer this morning but they winded me off the SW wind. Got hot early and I was drenched when I got to the truck. Hit a couple of other close spots but again a strike out. I'll be out Friday for sure. Still some time to go.
