First Guns

So what was your first gun? Lets hear the story behind them.

My first rifle was a 30-30, still have it, if i sold it my dad would kill me. Picked truckloads of walnuts to buy it. Deal was that me and my brother would buy the guns and he would buy the scopes for the guns. So at 12 and 10 years old we picked walnuts till we got sick of looking at them to buy them. killed my first buck in '06 with it.

Mine was a Hercules (from Montgomery Ward) break action .410 which was my grandfather's. I had to pick dead chickens from the houses for one summer to get it. (Actually, I picked the dead chickens pretty much all summer every summer, but that was the condition one year) I was 6, and was pretty sure I was the shit after I got that. He took me wood duck hunting that fall, and I shot one with it, although I have no idea how I even hit it, since the gun was way too big for me  That was in 1975, and I still have that gun.

Single shot 20 gauge when I was about 10. Got it for Christmas. I've since given it to my brother. He'll be 17 in a month. It's been shot a lot. Lots of wear on it.

I got a .410 from my grandpa for Christmas when I was 8. He bought it for me so I could go squirrel and rabbit hunting with him, and leave the BB gun at home! Still have it, and will never get rid of it. It brings back a lot of good memories with him.

Like some, mine was a single shot .410. Got it when I was 7. Father let me shoot at pigeons and clays. Finally hit one around the age of 9.

I started out on a 20ga semi auto, but MY first gun was my 16th birthday present. Rem 870 Super Mag. Since then I've picked up a .22mag, but that's it so far.

My first guns were from left to right-
Electric City.410 that got when I was seven, was my Dad's gun when he was little and is now my son's

870 20 gauge 2 3/4 that I got when I was twelve. Shot a lot of ducks with that gun when we could still use lead.

Model Seven .243 that I also got when I was twelve.

BB gun fights always ended very shortly after I showed up ;)

Left that off, I had the same pellet gun around the same age. Shot the hell out of it and just recently broke. Gave out on my grandpa that's been using it to pop squirrels in his garden.

Technically my first gun was a Belgium Browning auto .22. Gift from my grandmother when I was born. It has really never been shot. Too pretty. But the first gun I learned to shoot on was my dads single shot Winchester Model 67A Youth model. Once I got to be about 9 years old, dad bumped me up to the standard 67A. Still shoot the crap outta that gun. Probably the most accurate little 22 I've ever shot..

And then starting about 10 years old, dad would set me up at the 100 yard range at his gun club with his .223 target rifle. "Aim for the same spot every time. I want to see one ragged hole." And by golley thats what I did.

At 12 I got my 870 Supermag and I've been into shotguns ever since.

I guess my first gun was a daisy BB gun I got when I was 4 or 5. Then a benilli(always forget how to spell it) 20g semi auto when I was 9 or 10. Then my SBEll 12g that I use now when I was 12 or 13.

Bolt action single shot .22. Dad only let me shoot shorts for the longest time. I still have it but the barrel split at the muzzle years back hunting squirrels....

My first pellet gun was a break barrel .177 at around 1000 fps. Still have it and still shoot the carp out of it!

The first shotgun I shot was a Montgomery Ward .410 gauge bolt-action.
Quickly I graduated to carrying a model 1897 Winchester 16 gauge. Still have both shotguns.

guns 002.jpg

Notice the trigger on the top one...let me know next time you see a shotgun like that.

Later dad bought me a Remington 870 Wingmaster because he wanted one and there was a two for one sale.
Still have that gun but blew up the modified barrel. Still have the IC one.
Later on I bought another wingmaster and an Express super mag. Both have rem-chokes.
Then finally I asked my brother-in-law if he had a semi-auto I could borrow.
He dug around in his closet and pulled out a Beretta AL390 and said, "would this do?".
I about cried. Bought the gun later for some siding repairs on his house. Makes me happy, happy, happy.
