7mm Mau-Mau

7mm Mau-Mau

Postby R. Chapman » Fri Aug 23, 2013 10:08 pm

Loaded up some shells for a buddy's 7mm Mauser on an Interarms/Mauser action. Shot like a stripped ass ape. Landed 3 all in the same hole at 300 yards. It is one shooting SOB, plus the rifle is marked .275 Rigby instead on 7mm Mauser. The reason: When the Brittish folks were making those rifles, something about how Mauser action was related to the Germans and they didn't want to copy, so they named it the Rigby action along with calling the 7mm Mauser the .275 Rigby (same as the 7mm). It's a very cool rifle indeed with a neat story behind it.

Best Regards,

This may be a dumb question- does it use the 7mm Mauser rounds?

I'm just curious why the hell they would call it the .275, seeing as how it shoots a .284 caliber bullet (7mm)? Hell, .275 isn't even 6.8 mm (.270 Win/.277 caliber)...

Just the way the English gun makers marked it.

Also, the .277" bullets are a truer 7mm than the .284" Bullets.

.277": 7.02mm
.284": 7.20mm
