I just put a Vortex 2x7 on my .35 Rem and I'm pretty impressed with it, considering its $175 scope.

And while we are on the subject - see through mounts are the dumbest thing I've ever seen on a gun.

Vortex makes some badass optics, I'm really hoping they offer something similar to a Trijicon or EO Tech, I'm not a huge fan of the Strikefire.

Now we're talking! That's straight up my kinda shit. I've been looking at an ANT night scope for my 300aac for hogs at night, really considering pulling the trigger on it.

Yes, and the weakest. Gaddy do not, absolutely do not, get weaver scope mounts. Pure unadulterated garbage.

Ruger made a semi auto .44 mag carbine. If you can find one, they make pretty good "brush guns".

So apparently everyone can have their opinion about brush guns and cartridges for brush huntiń but not myself. Sure makes a lot of sense. I personally think bolt guns shooting medium bore heavy bullets going at African game velocity is perfect for timber shots. Slap a 1.5-6 or 2-7 power scope on there and you have it, a nice, strong timber gun. No need for a fast .30000 galaxy deluxe super hypersonic magnum slinging the new gold and titanium bond slugs at 12,000 FPS. I know Gad isn't looking into a cowboy rider but maybe consider getting a 94 in .32 Winchester Special or a 71 in .348 Wincheter or a Savage 99 Featherweight in a .358 Winchester. Lots of options.

GadwallGetter530 wrote:I'm Looking for a new deer rifle. Something people might call a "BRUSH gun". I've all ready knocked lever actions off the list. I was thinking more along the lines of a semi auto. I currently have a 270 bolt action thats my go to big game gun. I need something that would be better for tight quarters and deer drive type deals. Also what would you guys suggest for optics? Most of my deer hunting consist of pushes threw heavy cover and I really think I would be better off picking up something more suited to that type of hunting. Any help would be appreciated.
