The .25-06 is one hell of a cartridge.

Very nice. 2 years ago, I missed a cow and a spike. My 6mm was in the gunsmith because the firing pin broke. So Uncle Dudley lent me his 8mm Remington and gave me 5 rounds. I didn't check to see what they were because they were already in the magwell. Turned out he accidentally put 7mm Mag in that gun. That scared the absolute shit out me when that gun went off. Must have missed 10 feet or some shit. The 7mm bullet must have really been rattling done the barrel. Took a gun smith to pop the bolt open. That casing was split clear down to the belt. Leaned 2 lessons that day. Make sure it's the right ammo and don't borrow a rifle from someone using their ammo.

How's that .338 RUM feel? One went my way when a relative died. Knocked the snot out of my brains and cleaned the wax out of my ear drums really well.

It's a slow kick when you have it seated well in your shoulder.

The one I had kicked too much for my taste. When I started flinching while shooting it was when I got rid of it. Shot really well but for weighing 10 pounds, it became painful after 6-7 shots.

Yup but it's a hard kick. I'd hate to run 100 rounds through it.

Your a better man than me to shoot more than 2 rounds after it is zeroed

That 8mm is the hardest kicker I care to shoot. The ones guns that I do like to shoot are .375 HH Mags. I could one all day.

Agreed, .375s are even slower punches

I do like them. A buddy had one in a Model 70 and put $300 safari express sights. If you could see the front sight clearly, you could bust rocks and snow balls the size of softballs at 300 all day long. The only reason he got rid of it was because the gun only like A-Frames and the just cost to much for shooting rocks and shit.

Never said I've done it, I'd just hate too. Doubt I've even shot it 100 times. Don't even think I've put a box through it.

What's your RUM chambered in? Remington is my guess?

Yeah, all the rums I have are. Didn't know of anyone else making them.

For some reason I just think there's someone else who used to chamber a rifle or 2 for that cartridge. I could be wrong.

.338RUM is basically a .338 Lapua.

Virtually identical.

Dan-You are very correct on that one. The only difference is you can achieve slightly a little bit more velocity and have higher pressure than the RUM.
