Coming down to the stretch run on my layout boat. I have a batch of pictures to post during the various phases of construction. Today I soldered together the copper tubing for the spray shield, and fitted the canvas around the frame, so tomorrow it's time to fit the canvas into the boat. I had really wanted to make the frame for the spray shield out of 1-1/4" copper tubing but after finding out that each piece was going to be almost 120.00 per 10 foot section, and I need 2, I went with 1/2" M. It may seem like a big step down but after checking how much fittings were going to be in 1-1/4 I just couldn't justify the cost. A 1-1/4 T was going to be almost 40.00 and I needed 2 of those, 2 long sweep 90's and 4 1-1/4 45's. I would have had close to 200 dollars in fittings and that was no bueno, so I went with 1/2". Still nice and sturdy and I spent a little over 100 for everything. Trying to stretch my Social Security dollars as far as I can.
On the plus side I picked up my canoe and am waiting for my Launch Permit to get it out and try it. I'm getting revved up for the season and haven't gone out only once for doves so far in this early season with some limited success. Warming trend for the next couple weeks then supposedly a shift in the right direction. Hope everyone is doing well and are getting your gear together, Oct. 11th can't come soon enough. Next week a visit with my landowners and then I'm ready to go.
