We get a good flight of them in October every year. Our deer property has a lot of fresh growth aspen on it and is awesome woodcock hunting. It's a blast with a pointing dog because they hold so tight. I walk the road and when the dog locks up I walk in, kick it up and shoot. If you miss they only go 100yards so it gives the dog a lot of good practice.

Exactly the same in nc too. Sunflowers are the ticket. Also hunted a watermelon field, cantaloupes, cucumbers, anything with small seeds. Damn good hunting.

We were battling them with a wolf hunt the past couple years. But looks like we won that one.

For a very short time. Unless our State Senators act TOMORROW it will be on the general ballot in November and the AR groups will outspend us 3:1 and we'll be forever hosed.

That never passed?
I thought we finally got it where game laws could no longer be voted on?

That doesn't even qualify as an assafact. You stand there and beat on the side of the boat to get them to come in, for fuck's sake.

Ha. I watched guys in a big fishing boat shoot them when it was too rough for the layouts. But, I also heard someone say that mallards decoyed easier than spoonies.

Not yet. There are enough certified signatures to place it on the ballot OR the legislatures can vote to certify the results of the referendum for scientific management of species of seasons and make it law with out popular vote...if they do nothing, it will be on the ballot....however the bunny huggers collected signatures for their referendum...but not enough to bypass the ballot box....if the legislature fails to act BOTH sides will have their issue on the ballot in November.

I'm not hopeful that the legislature will act decisively on this issue in an election year, so I'm guessing that it will go to the general election and the ARs will show up with shitloads of California and Chicago and New York cash and buy a vote and scientific management will be bufu'd

Well that sucks. They tasted blood with the doves, and if they get the wolves too it's not going to be good.
