Light NE wind with temps in the upper 70's?

Birds - 7 BW

Friday afternoon Blake and I made it to the Blind and transplanted a few bundles of cordgrass around the blind. It is too darn hot for waders and a shovel in hand. The hunting was slow with ones and twos making it to the decoys from time to time. We didn't see many teal. It got hot so we packed it in around 8:40. Remi did very well on retrieves and brought to hand two that we'd probably not have found without her. Our water is EXTREMLY low.

We made a Friday afternoon trip to the refuge get some more these 20-count shrimp.

I thought I had hit the snooze on the alarm, but apparently, it wasn't as when I jumped up out of bed it was breaking light. We got to the blind around 7:10, flushing teal from the decoys as we approached. We should have had one more that we let slip out of the decoys. We called the hunt around 8:45 and picked up the decoys.
I'm not sure we will be able to get to the blind next weekend as we lost a good bit of water since last weekend, and I didn't want the decoys to be stranded. Most of our normal boat run has become very narrow with just a thin sheet of water cover and a couple of spots of crusted mud flats. We have to use the deeper ditch that the new owner had dug around the property. Luckily, we have a cut in the ditch at our pond to exit. I watched a black neck stilt walk through the decoys this morning, and the water may have reached a 1/4 of the way up its leg.
After praising Remi yesterday and feeling it's all come together, she had her moments this morning.

Your water is too low, and our water is rising. Water is over a foot higher than 3 weeks ago when we did work in the marsh.

The new levee and control structures are definitely keeping us disconnected from the Gulf's influence and salt water. Driving around down there during high tide, it's easy to see what properties are still open to the Gulf.
