P.S. Olt company

Postby aunt betty » Fri Mar 22, 2013 3:30 pm

They came back because of the $60-D2's.(I think)
You can buy a brand-new D2 from Olt today!
Get 'em while they are hot!
P. S. Olt, LLC is proud to revive the legendary OLT line and offer such classics as the D-2 Duck Call, arguably the most popular duck call ever produced, the D-2-K Keyhole Duck Call, popular among all duck hunters for over 90 years, the DD-11 Diver Duck Call, the G-50 Goose Call, as well as predator, deer and turkey calls. New additions to the P. S. Olt line include the OD-200 Duck Call, the OG-500 Goose Call and "The Legend Duck and Goose Call Box Set." The proper use of fine equipment like a P. S. Olt call can and will enhance your time in the field, on the water and with your friends. Calls are hunting multipliers as are decoys, clothing and shells, whose value is measured by proper use. Please observe the game laws of the areas you hunt as a true sportsman and water fowler would. Good luck and good hunting!

I want that boxed set...the goose and duck one. But it costs way too much. Sigh.

I have 3 key hole Olts. One of my favorite calls of all time.

Sent from my phone.

Anyone know if they're made of the same materials?

It is not exactly the same but it is the closest thing that they could get to the original hard rubber.

You can find original uncut D-2s for $35-40. Don't know why you would want to spend more for a preproduction.

All of mine are vintage off eBay. One even has a vinyl rather then Mylar reed.

I own an 80-year old D2 that's bakelite. I need to retire it BEFORE it cracks.

The D2 is a good call but is tricky, has a lot of range, and is not a beginner-single-reed call.
You'll have trouble with it sticking if you switch from two reeds to a D2.
It don't take nearly as much air as my other calls.
Finesse call, it is.

You have to realize that Olt was in business for over half a century before Butch R. ever built a duck call and he modeled his first call after an Olt. Look at the tone boards and tell me what is the difference?
I like RnT. Don't get me wrong... but they aren't magic and cost twice as much.

Olt has over 100 years experience in making calls and RnT has a little over 35 years.
Olt is where it all started.

Very, very few Bakelite D-2s exist. The D-2s that are Bakelite were made that way were because of the rubber shortage during the war. Rubber got tight so they started making them out of Bakelite but that was very limited. So if you do have one then it is a real D-2 treasure.

That's cool Acorn. Colt was around a long time before Glock came along, too. Both make great guns.

I resisted R N T calls for a long time. I am drinking the kool aid. I can see why people are so crazy over their calls.

I paid $80 for my D2. Sold my Daisy Cutter to get the money. I can always get another DC.
I made the guy send pictures first and I sent them to my Olt guy...Dave Jackson.
The kid I bought it from found it in his grandpa's closet kind of like I'm finding calls in my dad's abandoned house.
I wanted an uncut original bakelite D2 and sure enough, it is.

TK.
My friend from Pocahontas is selling you that RnT call. I talked to him today. (small world)
You'll be happy because that guy can call and can tune calls.

How many single reed calls have you used? Never met a single reed I didnt like.
Tried white lightning with one reed. Liked it so much I tossed the top reed with the pimple in it.
It sounds good. Custom tone board.

The new D-2-K is a pretty good call when it's cut....it don't run quite like the older keyholes but it can be made to sound damn good...the tone channel is shallower and more narrow than the older calls so the air presentation is a little different. I've cut a couple dozen of them and they all turned out really good.
