Awesome laminated brickwork. Did you make the blank too?

Nice work, brickwork and Celtic knots are my favorite lamination patterns.

you cut the woods and pattern them, then clue them all together and clamp them and turn it like you would a normal blank. It's pretty intensive but the result is well worth it.

What do you use for glue, if its not proprietary? I've had very mixed results in getting a good bond with the exotics.

I made this one for a guy on the other forum (he makes turkey calls, some of you may have one) and it looked solid, but the Madagascar tip popped off during the first season.

I also with the exotics since some of the grains are so tight really rough up both ends before bonding

I was also told to try cleaning the surface with paint thinner or something similar to help cut the woods natural oils. I didn't notice a difference though.

What are you gluing with? I also run a thin bead of ca on the inside where the end caps meet the other woods

I've tried thin ca, thick ca, some regular elmers woodwookers glue, I even tried one of those cheap 2 part epoxies.

i think ti helps that i have the cherry in between to bond better too. I stay away from the oily woods when doing calls like this

Definitely with that many glue bonds. I was usually just trying to do 1 or 2, but would like to try more elaborate layers.
Is that stuff you use from someplace like home depot or do you order online?

different length of barrel completely different insert with no curve it is typically a copper or brass reed that is curved instead of the tone board and loud as hell! The style originated from reelfoot lake tn and not many people make them anymore.

I have a signed Glynn Scobey call that's a reelfoot style. Posted pics somewhere in here.
That call is L O U D.

The reed is metal but is stainless steel I think.

Found that call in my parents garage. Hasn't been locked or anything done there since around 1997.
Am having to carefully go through a huge farm house full of stuff like that. Most is trash but every once in a while I find a treasure like the calls, shotguns, wildlife art, and other stuff I haven't found yet. I need to push my parents harder to let me go crazy in there.
So far it's been a box here, a drawer there. Am afraid the old house will get torched by some drunk kids or something weird. My parents are hoarders and have a problem with that.
