Calling the call nerds!!

I'm in the market for an echo and wanted to get your thoughts on what would be a good choice. I've tried a few and liked the meat hanger and pure meat calls.

I know it all depends on your style and personal preference but give me some info!

I've used a Meat Hanger and DRT. Not a fan of either one. From what I've heard the XLT is their best call out of the lineup. Pretty sure the Meat Hanger and Pure Meat are the same call, just had the name changed once Hobo got off the ground.

Gotcha. Then they must have been designed by Kent Cullum when he worked for Echo. Honestly don't know a lot about Echo, just that the ones I tried had too much hold and squeal for me to use them.

They are nice people over there. Not a waterfowl store if you know what I mean. Just a hardware store with hunting stuff.

All the XLT is, is an extra loud timber hence the initials. That if I'm not mistaken was one of the very first calls out of their lineup and has stood the test of time very well.

Thanks for all the info gentlemen. I normally use 3 different calls right now. The ph-2, macro hen, and diablo. I'm kinda leaning towards a single reed because I mostly use doubles but at the same time if I like the meat hangers sound better why change. God I love and hate buying calls!

xlt or timber. The timber has a great low end and mid range. Out of all the 1/4" bores I've ran it has the capability of the most volume. Very surprising mid range with one of the best low ends out there.

I'm not very brand loyal. Just like killing ducks and ill use any call that helps me do that.

My best duck call is the silver lid/cup on my thermos. Whenever I bring that bastard to my mouth, ducks appear. Maybe not close enough to shoot yet, but they damn sure appear.

So this is what I ended up with and I love it.
