some of my calls

Postby duckdreamer » Sun Jun 29, 2014 7:00 pm

A couple of my calls. I haven't been doing any lately. Upper respiratory infection came back after 2 months and knocked me for a loop again. I kind of just got out of the mood. Finally got out and did these. The red one is myrtle wood with ebony insert. others are from bear woods acrylic or texas ebony. one is spalted tamirind stabilized with cactus juice and african blackwood. Image

Very pretty, do you actually hunt with them or are they just for decoration and indoor use? (serious question)

Not a fan of swirled acrylic, but the wood ones are sweet.

Yeah I hunt with them. The gray and orange call is my favorite. It stays on my lanyard along with the myrtle. It has a real throaty quack that kind of ends in a squeal just a little. Very loud with a cajun hook on the end of a highball. The myrtle is a little deeper and I use it in the woods more. If I cant use them and they dont measure up in sound, I have a little box they go in labeled ''crap'' not scrap. I am going to have a custom jig made later this yr off the gray and orange. Just keeps down filing and sanding more I've heard. I am sending a friend one and the manager of the car dealership just got one for being a big help in our car purchase and he has 20 acres of flooded timber I have wrangled a season of hunts out of. I appreciate the comments guys. thanks

by the way, echo had a couple of the acrylic like that on ebay and the one like the gray call sold for 360 some dollars. All the ones they put on ebay sold for over 240 bucks. I really liked them but not that much, so when I found the acrylic, I made myself one. I kind of like the swamp water one, too.

Yeah. I get the acrylic at a place here in Dallas. I called that one camo frog, but the name on it is swampwater.

Great looking calls! I'll take your "crap" calls, I wouldn't know the difference and I'm guessing neither would the ducks.

They are truly great looking calls.
