Pacific Regional Duck Calling Contest

Postby Legband » Sun Jul 20, 2014 12:43 am

I attended the Pacific Regional Calling Contest at the CWA head quarters. The kids did a great job and the Response to both the New Navigator Series computer chip controlled swimming Decoy and the Revolution Articulating Goose Decoys were outstanding G&H is taking adding Motion to the Decoy spread to a whole new level. Make sure you check them out. Joe Hendrex G&H ProStaff California.

Sounds like an expensive water swat. What exactly do they do?

There is no doubt they are more expensive than a regular decoy.
And you situation may not call for them like anything in this world it's not for everybody.
But I have one buddy who had birds over him almost daily in the rice , he was in a natural flyway.
He got a couple shots early but when the sun came up blue bird day the birds stay at 60-70 yards or more.
No movement in the spread.
Another friend same thing on his pond.
If your in California I guarantee you will have more sun than storms or wind.
And if you do get a wind from the delta breeze is it when the birds are flying?
So this computer controlled swimmer go's straight , then left , then right , then stops and randomly changes it's corse.
No more round and round in a circle.
And if your in dirty water when it stops debris falls off.
The duel weed guard caged motors work independently of each other or together as the chip determines.
The butt feeders are the same.
The motors can be angle adjusted up or down to give you the amount of wave action or splash you determine is right for you.
How many of us have been sitting in a well concealed blind or spot with a dozen or two sweet looking decoys just to have a pair land wide and then every duck in the sky sits with them.
It's the erratic swimming movement of a live duck.
And this new G&H Navigator reproduces that in like nothing to hit the market before no more going in the same circle.
Just a couple will bring the spread alive.
Check them out on utube under G&H Navigator.

He is listed on the G&H web site as a member of the pro staff.

Yes I am on the G&H ProStaff and Marsh Mutt ProStaff
But I used G&H Decoys 20 years before I was.
Also FYI I have turned down a position with a name brand due to the quality of their products.
I just can't bring myself to speak highly of something I don't believe in , I'm not rich but I don't need their money or gear.

You send your robot dog after it

(I'm assuming it's anchored)

Makes sense. I was thinking you couldn't anchor it because then it wouldn't move, but I guess you could but a loose line on the anchor.

No I didn't see that.
but as long as the guys I hunt against think a duck sees what a human sees I'm good with that.
We have throw covers on my blind windows.
So I sit the ducks in the spread and make sure every body is ready before we come up on the birds.
especially the newbies and kids.
Quite often the flock splits or a second bunch joins them so I let the first bunch swim in the decoys while I work the remaining birds down to the water.
The Ducks think G&H look life like and most of the time they are trying to talk to them.
I have used them over twenty years and as long as the Ducks think they look real I'm happy.
There's no way to explain it fully with out sounding arrogant.
But most of these guys who vote don't kill A hundred mallards a year , their opinions don't mean much to me.
I hope that doesn't sound harsh , I certainly don't want it to , its just true.
Last year was the worst I have seen for birds since I've been hunting some 45 years , no weather it was tuff.
And still we shot mallards , G&H simply do the job for me.
Here are a few pics of birds killed that came up out of my decoys.

Point well made Rick.
Above board would have been a better choice of words or I could rephrase and say creditable reproach.

Never considered myself awesome and if that's what your picking up its unintended.
How would you answer information you know is not correct about your business.
Say nothing ?
Say I disagree ?
How would you try to reasonably point out what you know from experience to disinformation or a invalid perception of something
pointing out what I have found to be true from hands on use each season is the only way I know.
It's easy to throw out personal insults, but you won't get that from me.
As far as the pics go, maybe your different than me , but if you are going to tell me how you did using a certain product
a picture is worth a thousand words.
Anyway that's the way I see it.
I obviously hit a nerve in you somewhere , it was unintended I a sure you.

Someone said your decoys were voted ugliest or something to that effect. How can you say they are wrong? That's their opinion and no one ever said you can't kill ducks over them. You can kill snows over paper plates and trash bags. If you're in a good location ducks will land in the decoys regardless what brand they are or how they look. You have already started out 3 or 4 post by saying something to the effect of "I don't want to sound arrogant, but...." News flash, you sound arrogant.

If you want to be a glorified avon lady for some brand of duck gear that's fine but it doesn't mean crap to me. I will give it too you though, you have learned how to be insulting and diplomatic at the same time on a forum. Must be a skill learned from being a member of every duck forum on the Internet.
