RSI 88

RSI 88

Postby Ned Swygard » Tue Dec 04, 2012 10:45 pm

I loaded RSI 88 with both steel 1's and 2's. This is a 1 1/16 oz load that goes 1730 fps at 10,400 psi in a 3" Rem hull using a 2 3/4" RSI shot cup. Where I hunt geese at 3600 ft with 2's this load will penetrate to kill to 65 yds at 32F and 1's to 69 yds. There's 134 #2 pellets and 108 #1 pellets in this load for shooting Lessers. You only need 35 pellets fairly evenly spaced to put 5 pellets in a 8 lb Lesser. These are great loads over decoys and out to 60 yds. I keep the IC, LM, Mod, Imp Mod and Terror chokes in a Plano plug plastic box. These are extended chokes and use the one I need that particular day. I'm a speed demon. Hope to go after geese again this coming Fri. Ned S

This is one of my favorite loads, I use #2 when hunting where both ducks and geese may come in. Have taken qiite a few geese when using #3 also, will cleanly take anything over the decoys.
Hope you get on some birds this Fri Ned, good luck!

Killed alot of Snows using RSI 88 and steel 1's with an extended Imp Mod or Terror choke during the open season. Just got word that the farmer is using his sprinkler system and doesn't want us to hunt the spot. So it will be next week after the geese move. Ned S

Good luck to ya Ned, 88 should be a great snow load. Have used a 1 1/16 oz load of #2 at 1635 using a Ranger Plus wad with great results.

I like the Bashieri and Pellagri shotcups as well as VP60 and 65. Sam 1 shotcups do not work in my 935 and the MM work fine. I'll be using the Sam 1 shotcups this morning in the RSI 88 loads using my Excell with an extended IMP CYL. If the geese are wary I can switch to an IMP Mod or even a Terror. Ned S

we shot about 3 boxes of that very same load this year with 2's they were lights out for ducks and large canadas for that matter wonderfull load...shot out of moss 9200(full extendedmarked steel mossberg choke,835 ith marked full 2 and bb factory tube, and 870 and sx2 with extended mod tubes have no complance at all... out of my 835 with 28 inch tube went 1780 fps average for 3 shots..not bad at all...shot a few big honkers with 3's also when they came into blind without sound or when we were catching some zzz's and could not switch shells out...great size shot for this load also.. after seeing how 3's did i never even tried to switch shells, just shot them at snows/canadas if i had the 3's in that load loaded up at that moment
tried duplex load but was not overly convinced that it worked better then just straight 2's....

they will be wonderfull load for snows and most deffently for cackler canadas that you shoot down in texas....

good shootin and good luck on pounding them up Ned
