Are there any substitutions for these? I was looking in status of steel for a 3" cheddite load which I see is non-existent.

That's what I was hoping to hear. Jarbo, have a Jehler grab bag of wads to play with and one of his loads I was going to try. MM, 1 1/4 shot and 36ish gr steel if I remember correctly.

Just got all the in laws crap out of my reloading room last weekend. Reving up to run through that whole red box with whatever loads I can find that catch my eye to take to the range.

X2 on the similarity of hulls.
36 gns seems high to me using 1 1/4oz with MM wad. Never loaded it though

Cheddite hull with 36 grains of steel, lbc wad and 1 1/4 ounce of shot is my pet load, gives me 1500-1515 and is a few hundred pounds over spec. I shoot them out of a 3.5" gun but jgun has been shooting them out of a 3" gun for years. Of course his 11-87 didn't last to long....

That same load with a win209 and 35 grains of steel powder comes in at 1440-1450 and is a very solid performer

That load above with multi medals was mediocre in my benelli but patterned way better than the lbc's did out if jguns old Remington heavy duck

I also like the lbc wads, 1 1/8 in Fed is a good performer. Never used MM for anything over 1oz.

There are some 1600-1700 fps 7/8oz loads with Longshot using clbc, never loaded any. I have really liked the STS 1oz load with Longshot in 2 3/4 ched, 1570 I believe, killed many ducks with it, also makes some great lead loads.

If I reloaded, i almost know for sure that I would be one lead shooting mofo, which is probably why I don't do it.

hell, that has nothing to do with reloading! Trust me, looking at your hulls is not proof enough for the man

It is here. These federal wardens aren't the brightest bulbs. If it said "Xpert steel 2", that's good enough for them.

magnets are obsolete. Bismuth doesnt attract to magnets nor do a lot of the other shots.
